My income was online before i transferred to university. Strictly speaking I am not in a dorm but rather in a university apartment (very cheap compared to the private housing just across the street $500/month for me compared to $1000+ private).

I can post a pic of my bed with desk (more like a bunk bed with desk as the bottom bed) but it's pretty messy at the moment lol so might have to wait for that.

I'm not at business school nor does my school offer a business degree, but the closest thing here is econ/accounting which is the hyper mega impacted major at the school. I'm cool with philosophy (graduating in June with my BA yay!) but I'm considered pretty darn unique compared to what others want to do with their lives.

Most have never even considered a business and I offer to teach some, those willing to listen at least, but most are too busy or stuff comes up...whatever. The handful that have been serious I've setup with an ecommerce store and helped another, a TA in fact who was super interested in creating a profitable blog, create his own site to play around with.

I had to raise my income goals by about $5k since I pretty much hit the $10k goal in early 2013/late 2012. Things fluctuated as life changed a bit (broke up with my long term girl friend at the time which rocked me) but now things are looking up again.

It's really funny and a bit frustrating for those I talk to because senioritis has kicked in for me and it's hard for me to care 100% about my grades etc because it has nothing to do with my business (I mean I am a philosophy major after all lol), but I can do pretty well without studying very much AT ALL.

There is a TON of reading. My major is all reading and analyzing arguments etc but somehow my ambivalence towards my grade helps me to do really well lol

I have friends that study all day long, pop adderall and drink energy drinks + coffee...you name it they do it. But they still get B-, B, B+ while i might get the same grade with only like a quarter of the effort. It's frustrating for them and interesting for me to observe.

Creating an income online is 100000% doable in college, there is zero doubt about it. I'm not saying everyone has the thick skin to deal with the problems that can and will pop up.

It takes a lot of focus, perseverance, and failing A LOT to see what seriously works. It helps that I don't drink or party (I happen to be hyper conservative, so whatever) but I am at a party school so it does get a bit awkward at times.

I sometimes have to remind others that I went to the school because it felt right academically. Not necessarily so i could hook up, get drunk nightly (it happens) and have a ton of "fun regrets" to look back on.

I look back at my experience as character building and business building. I came into the school wanting stronger analysis skills so I could pick apart my business easier and come up with solutions faster.

So far it's been a fun ride

I should also add that I know others who left school to dedicate 100% time to their businesses. I can't wait to do that the second I graduate

I'm in a similar boat. In my senior year and my classes take a considerable time out of my schedule. It's tough because I'd rather focus my time on my business and even though I'm majoring in marketing many of my classes are all concept based. Learning terms, reading textbooks, and taking multiple choice exams even though most of what I've learned in the last year has been from this forum, videos, taking action in real life, and working one-on-one with other companies.

Can't wait til I'm done with school, I loved college my first few years when I was first trying to discover what I wanted to do, but now that I have a clear idea of what I want to do, school has only become a hindrance. I'm so close and have worked hard to get where I am now, so I must finish.

          Two things that struck me:

          1. Damn, I wish i had multiple choice exams lol All of mine are essay, and huge long messy essays at that.

          2. Not finishing doesn't make any sense in my case, so quitting isn't an option.

I didn't quit when things got roughest for my business so there's zero chance I'm quitting now for school. My parents would be crazy upset (though they're not paying anything for me, I am 1000% self sufficiently paid: tuition, housing etc )

But it gets a little difficult to explain to others that I have no want to get a job. Once I say that I have to mention the business, then i have to explain the income and blah blah they're either amazed, confused, or think I'm pretentious because I'm happy and talk so straight forwardly.

I sincerely don't think I'm pretentious just because I worked my ass off to create my income and it puts me in tears of happiness thinking of all the shit I had to deal with to get it. It's called hard work and persevering even when it feels like everyone and everything is against you.

People assume that everything just went right for me right away, as if I'm lucky. LOL, absolutely not.

I failed so many times it was getting pathetic to count.

And I completely get why most people don't make it online and it's fine. It hard. It's a pain in the ass to fail so much and to need money like right now.

But if you do make it it's amazing. Just simply inexhaustibly amazing. There is no finish line in business which is sort of why I also enjoy my philosophy so much. Both business and philosophy are open ended. It's just up to you how far you take things.

This was my situation. I focus on the here-and-now, so while my business was booming, I was desperately struggling to both keep my grades up and continuously meet client demands.

In the end, it didn't make sense for me, given my focus on the present, to spend so much of my time to create the potential for success in the future when I was letting present-day success slip away by doing so.

Understandably, if my business were to some day fail, it would be nice to have had that degree as a fallback. And I can always go back if I want. But my thought is that I built this current business entirely without a degree, have immense knowledge in how to generate an income, and could build another business without a degree if I needed to.

I started earning as a writer for a Prostate Blog when I was in the 10th grade. Two years later I had a couple of my own sites (ranking was damn easy then) selling music theory books. Have sold a whole lot of things since then (some were pretty weird) and still going strong.
