The idea of female models dieting, and all is FAR from unknown. The 2cm and desire to keep them from developing is hard to believe though. BTW 2cm is only .8". That amounts to about .2" on any side. That is, obviously, less than 1/4".

Wow - could that woman say "you know" any more times?

What is the point? New laws have been passed in several states restricting use/treatment of underage models. This seemed to be a discussion with an ex-model (and union organizer) about the NY laws.

Are we supposed to think high fashion models are treated the same as garment workers in Bangladesh factories? Seriously?

Why is the article concerned with skin and hair color of models? Is the article about bad practices in modeling or about too many models being "white and blond"? What does that have to do with it? Don't know, but it's repeated several times in the article. So I looked up images of the top 20 high fashion models - 2/3 have dark hair.

And it’s only really as I’ve gotten older that I look back, and I realize that there were days when, you know, if I was shooting, and I needed to be able to fit into some clothes, I didn’t, like, eat properly …
Between the "you know(s)" and the "like(s)" - I can only imagine a conversation with this woman! ugh .....not !

There is some agency(I WISH I could remember the name), but they periodically run a kind of AUDITION and the kids stay in hotels. ***I*** have been in 2 or 3 hotels that had them over. I'M NOSEY, OK!?!?!? Anyway, outside of almost commandeering the hotel and pulling pranks, they seemed to be serious about this. They seemed happy enough, etc.... So they are certainly NOT kidnapped or anything.

SOME such people end up making a LOT of money and doing relatively little work while seeing the world. Look at Zendaya. She doesn't try to hide her african heritage, became a model, was in commercials, and Disney has her on the fast track. And that INCLUDES spanish, mexican, African american, indian(BOTH TYPES), etc... AS WELL as white.

And some people just want white and blond. That is the CUSTOMERS concern, NOBODY elses. Heck, I have often heard about how SPANISH video from SPANISH companies tends to have "fairer" people (white, blond, light colored eyes) in more commanding/prominent/richer roles. One with darker skin(And NO, I DON'T mean brown or african american), dark hair, and brown eyes, may play a maid or some such.

And there ARE certain cultures and areas where you definitely WOULD prefer an african american.

Well, ya know, Kay, like the chicks that are so wrapped up in fashion that it is their, ya know, way of life, aren't like the deepest pools, ya know. I mean HELLO, what did ya expect when ya know, the big decision of the day is like...whether to wear Prada or Coach.

Well - like - ya know, some "recover":

It is a weird, sick world. She since recanted her statement,
but a Victoria's Secret model dissed Taylor Swift after her
appearance on one of their shows saying something like
"she's not up with us because she did not exude confidence
like we do... Exuding confidence is the pinnacle of womanhood?

As far as I'm concerned, Taylor's as pretty as any of them,
exudes as much confidence as any of them (whatever that means),
and has sold over 26 million albums and written or co-written
all or almost all of the songs. (I don't know for sure if she has a cover on any
of her albums. In concert - yes.)

I could probably tell you her views on a lot of things. I could counter with an argument against small samples of 677, or subjective views, etc... But frankly, I think she just wanted to see herself on the TED stage, and shoot for it.

As for free stuff, there are MANY reasons that might happen. Is THAT now to be an "entitlement" TOO? BTW WOMEN as a group see that more than even WHITE males! Will MY group finally be classed as "protected"? To be fair, if this is an entitlement, we really SHOULD be! I'm sure that police don't give out NEARLY as many tickets as they COULD. Although probably 25% of the time I was stopped it was UNCALLED FOR, I figure that 50% of the time I was stopped I was let go with anything from an I'm sorry, to a warning.

But....but...we're not talking accomplishments or natural talent here.

Can Taylor walk up and down a strip of floor (runway) as if something is badly chafing....or not? That's the question.

She's right - looks aren't everything....unless that's the ONLY thing you've got going for you.

I'm glad I'm not a woman because of all the pressure to be pretty.
          (And the women's plumbing things).

Dr. Laura takes exception to all the importance that is placed on
"self esteem ". Feels it should be earned and self-respect preserved.
          Imagine that.

But, back to your main question, I did see a YouTube clip of Taylor
on that show, and she can do the runway walk as well as a supermodel.
Doesn't that make her a super duper model because she has talent too?

EXACTLY! She talks about her ability to be here as if it is something ALL should EXCEL at. The FACT is that it is due to the item, and the demographic. Some REQUIRE you to be a WOMAN! Should I be upset because I can't do it? Some REQUIRE you to be REALLY BUILT! Should I be upset because I can't do it? Some REQUIRE you to be SKINNY! Should I be upset because I can't do it? Some REQUIRE you to be BLACK! Should I be upset because I can't do it?

HECK NO! There are many things I might have tried if I could. Because I didn't qualify, I never considered them as options.

She probably COULD, but why would she want to? She may have actually appeared with things chaffing and acted like they WEREN'T! She apparently can hold her own with people in the industries though.

She's right - looks aren't everything....unless that's the ONLY thing you've got going for you.
Yeah, but you either have to admit you have a serious problem, or work towards another option.

You're welcome to it, Claude - but I don't think you need it. Clearly, you've cornered the market on looks, brains and I bet you could walk a runway with the best of them.....oh man, I'd really like to see THAT.
