It depends what news source you're reading (sort of like whether Alexander Graham Bell was Canadian, Scottish, or American):

I was kidding. She was born in Canada. I always thought she was gay. Hence the "joke"

That's it! I am never going to ask her out on a date now!

And I am boycotting her breakfast cereal. And her porn. we must have standards.

That makes two...two women named Ellen that have come out of the closet.

        Coincidence? I think not!

It was all a lie...everything...the romance with Ice Man, the pregnancy, everything.

She obviously cares, which is why she mentioned it. According to Kinsey, the famed sexologist, relatively few people are actually truly 'gay'. The whole Kinsey scale model seems to be forgotten in the wake of gay politics.

I think these gradients are more with women. I know lots of women (in my dim evil past) who either had had sex with a woman, or fantasized about it...but they mostly had sex with men.

And I don't think most of them thought of themselves as gay. But the women who have called themselves gay, were exclusively gay.

But the gay men I've met were all exclusively gay, as far as I knew.

Maybe it's different with women, or maybe my experience is atypical. And it's a small sampling.

This isn't a study, and your experience may be different.

My thought is that a few people reading this are chuckling, because they really know the answers to all this.

I honestly never even heard of her until today when I learned she's a lesbian. I had to look her up to find out who she was. I'll be a swine and say she's hot.

Can't believe you never saw Juno or Whip It! Though, I think one of her better movies was Hard Candy.

          And yes, she is hot.

I'm out of the loop on current TV and movies. We don't even have a TV. It's the publicity surrounding what they do behind closed doors that brought them to my attention in the first place. What can performers or sports stars who are not gay or lesbian come out as to garner publicity -- maybe dragons. aliens, or leprechauns? "In An Emotional Speech, Star Jockey Comes Out As A Leprechaun." I bet that would get the attention of people who don't ordinarily follow horse races.

I guess that would explain why sometimes I feel sad but don't know why. It was because "all heterosexual men" would include me, so -- ah ha! -- I was in love with an actress that I had never before seen or heard of who turned out to be, a lesbian. Talk about unattainable...

Well, some sites are stating what should be OBVIOUS! In the work culture she is in, they will NOT ostracize anyone for being homosexual. On the contrary, they will spread it all over like it is a REALLY big deal, and relish it! It was EXPECTED! They have done it MANY times before, so what is another time?

Did you see it when she verbalized that she was homosexual? There was WILD CLAPPING, and a STANDING OVATION! GIVE ME A BREAK! She walks in to a place that practically SCREAMS IT! She is on a STAGE that SCREAMS IT! She wears a SHIRT that SCREAMS IT! Shouldn't all the people be deaf after that? They act like they are deaf until she says those words.

So some sites are asking, SARCASTICALLY, "DID IT WORK?"! Did you know who she was before? I didn't. Of course, I didn't care and don't care. They say it should be obvious that it was a publicity stunt. It might be true or not, but it was a publicity stunt.

Do you ever THINK before you post or as my 10th grade bio teacher would say, do you just have diarrhea of the mouth?

        That's a rhetorical question.

Being where she was doesn't SCREAM IT. Wearing a shirt doesn't SCREAM IT. What those two things do SCREAM is that they SUPPORT the rights of people who are. NOT that they are. There is a difference.

Somehow saying a women is "gay" just doesn't sound right. Men are gay, not women.
When I think of a "gay" women, I think of Rosanne, Thatcher or Hilary Clinton. They might be considered gay but real women just can't be gay.
    It's wrong.

Ellen's not gay either, she's just a dike.
