It was a VHS tape. Of a Jennifer Lopez movie.
Kayla Finley, 27, was arrested Thursday in Pickens County, South Carolina, on a misdemeanor charge of failure to return the video, according to CNN affiliate WYFF-TV.
The movie, "Monster-In-Law," starring Lopez and Jane Fonda as a feuding potential daughter- and mother-in-law, was rented from a video store, Dalton Videos, that is now out of business.
Hey, it's Jennifer Lopez. The stakes are high people!
I saw the lovely Jenny last year. None of her films are worth jail time but La Lopez could lock me up anyday! ... weren't we just talking about something else? .... (gone)

Sure she wasn't jailed for hiring that movie in the first place?

I had forgotten that Jennifer Lopez got her
start as an actress. She's the first person
to have a top rated movie and album out at
the same time. From her wiki:

"Jennifer Lynn Muñiz (née Lopez; born July 24, 1969) is an American actress, dancer, fashion designer, perfumer, philanthropist, producer, recording artist and television personality. She became interested in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry following a minor role in the 1986 film My Little Girl, to the dismay of her Puerto Rican parents, who believed that it was an unrealistic career route for a Hispanic. Lopez gained her first regular high-profile job as a Fly Girl dancer on In Living Color in 1991, where she remained a regular until she decided to pursue an acting career in 1993. She received her first leading role in the Selena biopic of the same name in 1997. Lopez became the first Latina actress to earn over $1 million for a role the following year, with the film Out of Sight. She ventured into the music industry in 1999 with her debut studio album, On the 6, joining a select few in successfully converting from a film to a music career.

With the simultaneous release of her second studio album J.Lo and her film The Wedding Planner in 2001, Lopez became the first person to have a number one album and film in the same week"

I was at a bar once and this girl went crazy on some drugs
and started assaulting people. One of the guys who got hit by her
    completed a witness statement.

Turns out he forgot about an outstanding warrant for a failure to appear
for a minor traffic offense. That night cost him an extra $300 and the new
    court date...

Too strict my butt - it's ILLEGAL. We have a statute of limitations here - and 9 years exceeds it. There is also a law that you have to be able to face your accuser - the accuser being the individual or person(read: corp) that was damaged, and they have to prove the damages.

I have no idea what is going on with this - but someone either needs kicked off the arresting force or out of the court if this is anywhere NEAR the truth.

I meant to find the link on this and post it. It is odder than I thought.

GIVE ME A BREAK! The BAIL should be enough to say, OK, WE'RE DONE! They can't legally take her to court anyway. WHERE is her accuser? The company is GONE, etc.... And NINE years for such a minor thing? HECK, they should have just charged her card for the sale value.

And ARRESTING someone over a TAPE!?!?!?

As for the moving, etc? I had the EXACT same thing happen with ME! I borrowed a book from the library, moved, and basically lost the book. The charge? Late fees and replacement cost, which I GLADLY paid. It was WELL under $2000!

Heck, the security on returned videos STINKS! If I knew a place might place me under arrest for their video not being returned(NOTE TENSE), then I would NEVER do business with them! What if I forget? What if I slip up in some way? What if it is stolen somewhere? What if THEY steal it? What if THEY misplace it? What if THEY fail to record it? What if THEIR record system is, or gets, all messed up? What if THEY audit and find a mistake happened somewhere? NO THANKS!

You REALLY want to be "fair", and hit her HARD? Charge her 30 times the average resale value of the tape, and split it equally among all creditors that haven't been paid in full. They will get FAR more than they would have, and she could go back on with her life. WHY 30 times? At an average of 3% payback, 30 would bring it close to 100%. It is closer than they could ever expect. If there are no creditors, the store owner would get it and should be happy it was one less tape to sell and he got a VERY good return.

I think I better return Curios George to the library. I've had it since 1964.
