I just came across this (a friend sent it to me on my iphone).

I love being surprised by new and amazing things. I first saw this on my iPhone but it works just as well in a desktop browser.

Why it Works:

Reading is inherently time consuming because your eyes have to move from word to word and line to line. Traditional reading also consumes huge amounts of physical space on a page or screen, which limits reading effectiveness on small displays. Scrolling, pinching, and resizing a reading area doesn't fix the problem and only frustrates people.

Now, with compact text streaming from Spritz, content can be streamed one word at a time, without forcing your eyes to spend time moving around the page. Spritz makes streaming your content easy and more comfortable, especially on small displays.

Our "Redicle" technology enhances readability even more by using horizontal lines and hash marks to direct your eyes to the red letter in each word, so you can focus on the content that interests you.

Best of all, Spritz's patent-pending technology can integrate into photos, maps, videos, and websites to promote more effective communication.
This can (will obviously?) affect us given that we're into dispensing information. The first thing I thought was how fast I could read a report and ebook. Sometimes in the "thrifty-info" market it's not always about the wasted $7 but about the wasted time it takes to read some of these long reports. It's obviously early days but I'd LOVE to be able to offer a "Spritzified version of my book. Is a "Spritz" page the new "squeeze page"?

Anyway, I was amazed and I hope you are too. If you tried the speed test, how fast were you able to read?

Being a technology geek, that was amazing for me. I like how they not only make you read one word at a time but also focus on a letter, color it red by which we understand the whole word and read it even fast. Because while reading our mind only reads the first and last alphabet in a word and recognize it. While learning words we're not actually learning the spelling but making a shape of that word in our mind and therefore when we see an irregular shape our mind immediately tell us about the spelling mistake (Or the spell checker if you're not good at recognizing spellings )

A bit off topic but I think this is amazing too

It's fascinating technology. However, in playing with it I found I didn't have decent comprehension except at the highest rate in the test (600).

I'm not a typical reader though so could be me.

Does your brain shut off at slow speeds? Mine does. I have never met
anybody else like that. Or at least no one willing to admit it.

If some one talks really slow ... unless its super important ... i just zone out.
I am always at peek performance when i am doing multiple things at once.
reading, talking .. working. It really doesn't matter. If i am forced to do
just one thing at one time, some times i just kind of tard out.

btw I don't "speed read" but i can read and comprehend a 400 page book
        in just a few hours.

My brain starts thinking about other things - and that's probably the reason I dislike video tutorials. You can't speed them up and before I know it my mind is on a totally different topic while the person on the video is droning on.

I've noticed when I'm immersed in reading I don't read word-by-word and line-by-line. I seem to read in blocks of text though I'm not sure how it works - just does. I began reading at a very young age - it came naturally is the only way I can describe it.

I wouldn't want to read any faster than I do now - my Kindle Paperwhite is an expensive hobby!

Actually Kay - you can and I do it almost all the time.

Step 1) Download the video using a plugin or downloader so you have a local copy to view. I use DownloadHelper (Firefox) and StreamTransport to download almost all the videos I want to watch and especially those I want to study but mostly just to avoid lag jitters which annoy the heck out of me. I learned to to do this when I was paying $15 per GB for downloads.

Step 2) Use VLC media player (it's free) to open the video. Right click the video as it's playing and select Playback --> Speed --> Faster. You can make fine adjustments by choosing slower and slower or faster and faster. I often speed it up until they're talking as fast as a fast talking seller. It can sometimes cut my video viewing time down by half.

Except *AT* the highest rate? That's awesome, I was struggling at 400 but was laughing at my skill as well so could probably go higher. Apparently some are up to 1,000. I can see it's benefits on those smart watches though.
