Pithovirus has about 500 genes, dwarfing viruses like those that cause AIDS or influenza, which contain about 10 genes ..

    Not a bad article until they threw the global warming fear monger bs into it. They've been finding bacteria live from a couple hundred thousand years back - and it wasn't frozen. It was preserved in something -- halite if I remember right. Then there's bubonic plague that gets unearthed now and again that's still alive after hundreds of years.
