If you only changed the extension then change it back.

So, find the files and rename them accordingly.

Not sure whether this is what you mean though.

Just do a search for PDF to word converter. There are plenty of free programs that will do this for you.

i tried that, changed .pdf back to .doc by simply editing the file name, but it still opened as a pdf flie.

After you changed the file extension back to doc, how are you trying to open the file? Have you tried right clicking the file and choosing "Open with.." from the drop down list.

If you have actually managed to convert all the doc files to pdf and they won't convert back, it may be your only option but to copy and paste from the pdf's and create new Doc files.

I have right clicked and tried to use "open with" but it still opened as .pdf files. even worse, ALL my .doc files on my entire computer have changed! therefore, all my PLR content is suddenly not PLR anymore, as im not able to edit them!

Based on this information it sounds like you've changed your default .doc viewer to Adobe Reader. Change the extension back to .doc, and then in the "Open With" box select Microsoft Word. I hope this helps!

Two possibilities spring to mind. Were the doc files originally embedded PDF Files? The second is, have you been infected by a virus. I would write a new word document, it does not need to be very long, and try opening and closing it and see if it changes to PDF.

thx for all the inputs. i have managed to change all back to word files, but the particular PLR i want to edit cant be changed. i have used it before to add some content to my website, so it was .doc before. for some reason, when i want to change it to .doc now, it's asking me for a password. how is this possible?

THIS is why you should have a BACKUP, ESPECIALLY if you use a new program like this.

OK, FIRST, there is the possibility that you mean "changed the extension". I'm guessing THAT isn't it, because you are claiming it opens in adobe. I don't believe adobe will open RDF, DOC, or TXT. Why should it? NEXT...

SECOND, there is EXTENSION ASSOCIATION. See #1, but you said you selected after right clicking. So THAT isn't it. NEXT...

THIRD, they were CHANGED! SORRY, you're "HOSED"! They DO have PDF->DOC(RTF) converters, but they do NOT work 100%! WHY? Well, first of all, PDF can't do all that DOC can, so it will throw out things and/or convert them to things like graphics! If it is a REAL SIMPLE, like only TEXT, document, you should have little trouble, at least with your PLR.

For future reference, were you working with files in the root directory? Some programs, at least sometimes, do a full recursion. That means that converting files in the "/" (AKA ROOT) directory affects EVERY such file on your system!
