Do You Think The Universe Is A Thinking Entity?

Is the universe and nature intelligent or does the human brain operate on different laws of physics than the rest of the waves and matter in the universe?

Sorry Thunderbird, I'm not quite sure.

I'm fairly certain you'll have a large number of 'definitive' answers by the time the day is out though.

Yeah, no doubt That's a knot that I haven't mastered so I endlessly try to sort it out.

Exactly, for your own peace of mind, at least you'll have a whole world of new possibilities opened up to you.

Like me, I suspect a small proportion of the suggestions would have been impossible to imagine without mind bending drugs though.

But on a more serious side if all human thought is derived from Holographic energy patterns, and the brain is just a receiving station for all that, then anything could think!

Or the known universe is conscious!

This could also raise the exciting possibility that crystals can hold thought forms!

Just my 2 cents worth!

The universe certainly has the conditions to inadvertently create thinking entities from its component parts.

Take Claude for example. A thinking entity. Or was that a thinking Hen Titty?.

I think the universe is chaos as it was meant to be.

As humans, we are uncomfortable with chaos as it goes against our need to control or to create order and logical progression.

Chaos can lead to an event sequence and create results. Uncontrolled, unplanned, unimagined. A star may explode and dust particles may form a cloud that eventually forms a new planet...or it may not. Planets may collide...or not. Signs of life may emerge where the right ingredients and organisms end up in one place...or not.

Exciting. Unpredictable. Fascinating. No thinking required.

That may be more a question of human perception than reality. Not fully understanding how events take place, one may leave it at randomness and "luck". There have been non-chaos interpretations of the universe described in the language of physics, eg those of David Bohm that, as far as I know, have held up as well as quantum chaos interpretations (Neils Bohr). I say this from a position of knowing squat-all.

I have squat all, too. After several years of exposure to discussions and papers (my ex and his colleagues) on atomic orbitals of atoms and predictions of atomic activity in fields of theoretical chemistry and quantum physics....

I threw up my hands and came up with my own plan. I chose chaos - it works for my life so why not for the universe?

Chaos is a comforting theory to me - I don't have to control it and whatever happens is not my fault.:p

You have to be able to define conscious energy. So far, um.........we've not been too successful on that account.

Hmmm, l will take a shot at it,..... conscious energy is a primeval energy bundle derived from universal energy, and allowed to progress through gas to rock, to basic living matter, all the way up to us.

So we are a bundle of reprogrammed energy, that is allowed to progress through all or most states of matter, in order to eventually become self aware, and become aware of what we originally were, or what we really are now!

Or another way to put it is, we choose to play in dimensions of a particular frequency in order to evolve all the way to full realization, and hence come full circle.

Then move on to better things.

If l am on the right track with this, then since energy bundled in the right way is conscious, then anything can be conscious.

The universe might not be a giant brain, but it is made up of uncountable levels of consciousness.

But self awareness, takes time and effort!

Phew, l better go lie down!

The universe encompassing all that we can see, detect and measure, or not see, detect or measure as yet has component parts that are capable of coming together in such a way that as we perceive the definition, to produce intelligent, objective thinking beings.

This has been demonstrated over several species on one planet alone, the Earth. The degree of intelligence varies to a huge extent. Humans of course are at the top here but we can not discount, dolphins, monkeys, pigs and dogs and possibly some others that are also capable of cognitive, objective, intellegent thought to some, limited degree.

So if we confirm intelligences exist in abundance everywhere in the universe then the factor of fluke, chaos and randomness become a bit less likely but the universe is vast and this is still not any sort of proof of anything. A hundred million intelligent species is still a drop in the bucket.

If we find we are a one off then its a case of well, its going to happen once by sheer chance somewhere along the line.

Not a question we can answer based on the hard science we know as yet.

However, everything is made of energy and energy manifests itself into many different states, we are all made from that same energy existing in some state. By definition then it could be argued that because we are all essentially made of the same stuff, intelligence is a part of it and is shared by everything.

Yep, getting a little metaphysical there but I don't think we can entirely throw it out until the case is proven or dis-proven somehow.

My favorite Metaphysical quote: "We are all a part of everything that ever was, is now and ever will be."

Chaos is cause and effect, or more precisely, causes and effects, that we don't yet understand. That doesn't mean it's not your fault.
