Did Google Change Its Format?

A couple of days ago I noticed that Google search results looked very different. There's only a list of results on the far left hand side of my screen and the rest of the page is blank, which looks a little strange. Not that I miss all the Adwords ads, but I'm wondering why they no longer appear.

Once in a while there are a few ads in the middle, but the right side is still blank. There also seems to be none of the diversity there used to be -i.e. sponsored ads on top, followed by regular listings. Just one long list of undifferentiated listings. I tried this with a couple of different browsers with the same results. Maybe this is just a temporary glitch, as it doesn't look like something that Google would want, as most ads seem to be blocked.

If javascript is turned off it will make Google SERPs look different.

I didn't make any changes recently. I wouldn't even know how to turn off javascript. The change in Google's pages seemed to happen spontaneously unless I did something unwittingly.
