Let me ask you this...

If your computer crashed and something happened where you forgot the websites you are a member of and you stored the passwords on your computer, what would you do?

Years ago I had an eMachine computer that I started not to trust as it froze a lot. And this is what inspired this idea I'd like to share with you. All the important websites that I went to, along with the email I used, passwords and any other important data related to those websites, I stored on a common personal phone book.

I have the urls to all the websites that I frequent a lot on my favorites and bookmarks. But I never store passwords on my computer... unless it's an insignificant site. Sites like Yahoo Mail, Google+, PayPal, my bank, this site, etc, etc, are all written in alphabetical order as they appear in the phone book. This way I don't have to worry about losing any important data that I could lose in a crash or have a key password picked by a keylogger virus.

I use a regular personal phone book only used for the purpose of keeping website information. Mine is like below, but a different color from PlanAhead:

Hope that's a tip you can use to protect any data you could possibly lose.

I use Lastpass for passwords. I haven't really given much thought to URL's though.

The thing I like about Lastpass is that the passwords are stored both on your computer and on their servers.

Yes, there are several password management services out there. I guess I never looked into them because my trusty phone book sits by my computer all the time, unless I take out my laptop somewhere, then it rides with me.

Besides, by the time I logged into one of those password management sites, I could open my book and find it printed right there. Then with the sites I frequent the most, the password is in my memory! I also have written down my username for that site, site name and any data associated with it, like the answer to a secret question, etc.

      Take care Joe.

Might as well beat someone to the punch...

What happens if you lose your phone book?

It won't happen, so no worries! LOL!
