I always liked Mike Oldfield although he often does experimental stuff that does not work he is also capable truly inspiring melodies. He has teamed up with a competent rock singer for a new album of straight songs called Man On The Rocks. The title track in my opinion is a truly great new song. See what you think, volume up!

    Shane, I thought a couple songs off that album sounded like Floyd too. I listened to six songs off the album and liked three of them.

      Not bad too. Oldfield always comes up with some winners in his songs or instrumental passages. Here's a melody from Tubular Bells 3 that is just a woman doing floyd like backing vocals to the instrumentaton. If he had done some singing lyrics to it and released it as a single, another great hit song

        Here's Oldfield at his finest in my Opinion. A whole album called The Songs Of Distant Earth. All instrumental.The most laid back album of all time. Music based on Arthur C Clarke's book of the same name. 55 minutes of sheer enjoyment.

        Put on your headphones, Lay back and close your eyes. If you don't have a cosmic moment or 2 I will be very suprised!

        The album I would take by choice if I had one piece of music to take to a desert Island.
