Oh, great. Now he's going to run around for the rest of the week making everyone call him King.

First, I didn't read this. So keep that in mind.

It's a problem when you have no separation between church and state.
Actually, I understand completely why they see atheists as a threat.

When you're religion is central to your way of living, atheism is a threat. I don't know how they could see it any other way.

IRAN did most of this in the late 1970s. I had a roommate that was part of a FAMILY THROWN OUT of IRAN primarily because they were JEWISH.

There are some countries that insist on their own religion and everyone else is evil. Look at how many Christians are being slaughtered in a few of those countries. Now it's athiests. They won't be happy until the whole world is forced into their own ideology. Religion causes more pain and death on the planet than anything else ever. If I had my way, no country in the world would be allowed to have rule by religion.

You have that right, Earlier people said the US was ruled by Christians, etc... The truth is the entire constitution doesn't mention Christianity, and the 1st amendment says that the government shouldn't prefer, regulate, or limit any religion.

MOST Muslim countries, by contrast, have islam running the country, require that islam be spread, and forbid telling moslems about non islam religions.

As for the danger of religion? I would replace that with ideology. Religion is dangerous only in that it is part of that ideology. ICSM.....

That's true - but religion is the form of ideology that has caused the most problem. Any political ideology is dangerous, too, when people get too fanatic about it.

Our forefathers were Christians, as far as we know anyway. Um............they came from part of the world that Christianity had political rule. They HAD to be Christians. The church there was as we see Islam in the Middle East now. You "believed" and you "believed" as they told you to or your *ss was grass. That's why one of the first things they did here was initiate religious freedom. Had they not done so, we might still be burning women as witches, and killing people for idealism, etc.

Well, I will disagree about so many in religion being the major problem.

You ARE right about the Christian church then though. WOW, one guy creates moveable type. TECHNICALLY all he REALLY did was create moveable type, and YIKES! Before that, The catholic church had bibles for the priests in latin. Afterwards, it led to the unification of germany, the spread of protestantism, and the formation of the english speaking colonies in the US. In a way, if all else were the same, and there were no protestants, America would certainly not be speaking english.

MAN, it would be something to be able to put in the parameters, and see the real outcome.
