A 2011 Hyundai Elantra I just bought in December after trading in my 2001 Hyundai Tiberon.

If you are looking for "status" car answers though, you won't get that from me. Paying more than $20k for a car is just plain stupid imo. Status symbols mean nothing to me. Maybe it's more important to guys than me, a middle aged woman, but as long as the car looks good and works well, I'm fine.

Taxis. Owning a car in Thailand is pointless. Car luxury tax is ridiculous (Base price + 307% - any $30k USD import car will cost you well over 100 grand here). Traffic is ridiculous. Gas prices are ridiculous. Taxi prices are ridiculously cheap (10km for $3). The most I've ever spent on a taxi was $40 for a 250km ride to the beach.

Luxury cars are great for showing off and picking up girls that don't give a shit about you, but if you have no reason to own one other than that, you probably live a sad, lonely, shallow life.

    Which car are you driving?
    Mine, of course.

    Jeep Patriot.

I need a jeep so when I go on meet-ups with my website members and they try to haul several hundred pound pieces of petrified wood - I have to drive up the hills with no roads to rescue them.

They'd never have gotten this one down the hill without my jeep.

Sports cars are for Nancy boys who get spooked if there's no concrete.

Never heard of it before. Had to look it up on google images. Now that would be a nice rockhound rig, too. As far as your lonely shallow life -- um..........sorry, I can't feel bad for a guy with a nice rig.
