A rare Ming-era cup has fetched a record-breaking $36m (£22m) at auction in Hong Kong on Tuesday.

The porcelain cup decorated with a painting of a rooster, hen and chicks was made in the late 15th Century.

The auction is being closely watched by investors for signs of recovery in China's volatile high-end art market.

Auction house Sotheby's said the previous record for Chinese porcelain was set in 2010, when a vase sold for $32.4m.

Considering its antiquity and rarity, that price actually makes more sense to me than many things that cost more than that.

And you might have to buy the whole set too!

But this is the set you'd probably be handling:
