Is This The Real Life? Is This Just Battersea?
Every time I hear the first line to Bohemian Rhapsody, I remember those heady days of my youth spent behind the counter of a record store.
Customers would come in and ask for some song they'd just heard on the radio (before FM) and quite often they wouldn't know the title.
So they'd sing or recite a line or two - or give an approximation of what they thought they'd heard.
A couple of my favorite attempts were:
"Mr Jimmy Bottle" by The Police
and "Chicken Tikka" by Abba
For those outside the UK and wondering about the subject line, Battersea is an area of London.
But actually, it's not a mistake - Freddie Mercury really does sing those words.
