Well, a person got to where she didn't care, and fell behind. Since she was trying to find what nobody else in the loop really could, she entered a bunch of mammograms all as NEGATIVE! Lots of happy patients, and she gets her load cleared out QUICKLY! GREAT, HUH!?!?!?

Well, it turned out at least 10 should have been positive!

Former Ga. radiology technician falsified mammogram reports; 10 cancer diagnoses delayed

    From the article:

The tech, Rachael Rapraeger, pleaded guilty earlier this month to 10 misdemeanor charges of reckless conduct and one felony charge of computer forgery. She was sentenced to serve up to six months in a detention center, to serve 10 years on probation during which she can't work in the health care field and to pay a $12,500 fine.
I don't agree with the punishment. She put lives in danger. She should have taken a leave of absence if she was having personal issues, not alter life-threatening documents.

Seems nobody gets the punishments they deserve anymore which is why people like her continue to do things like this.

The punishment is barely a slap on the wrist.

If she couldn't cope, she should have told someone, especially in this case where lives were at risk. That is such BS to fake results and think you won't get caught. She should spend 10 years in jail, a sentence that is less than the one faced by those women who did have cancer but were lied to.

      That is completely unacceptable!

Call me sadistic, but I think forcing her to have a double mastectomy would suffice. I mean if you go along with an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth...

Women are still getting mastectomies? They've known for 30 years now that it's unnecessary. A lumpectomy and then the treatment of your choice.

As far as this woman - that's 10 counts of negligent homicide at the very least. I guess if we want to see her in jail long-term we'll have to give her a joint and flag a cop down to catch her smoking it.

Some women who have breast cancer in their family history are electively requesting and getting those double mastectomies!

The most talked about in the recent past would be Angelina Jolie.

I don't understand.... how can a person in this position not care? Why didn't she just quit? Instead she might have doomed someone to an early death. I'm watching my best friend die from brain cancer and it makes me froth at the mouth to think that this woman didn't care.

There is certainly tons of blame for falsifying medical test reports. On the other hand, some of this blame should be shared with others just as guilty. Costs are contained to the point where a tech should examine and analyze a minimum number per hour. It is likely too high a number where this results in a lot of wrong reports, more than we know or will be able to count.

I think our health care is only as good as the weakest link in the chain and I've personally experienced some weak links myself, a lot more than once.
