What a great version of 'Nights in White Satin!'

The other day I was on Pandora looking for songs from one of my favorite singers, Italian tenor Alessandro Safina. Then several songs from Il Divo came up. I love their style of music and (it's really my favorite!) they have beautiful voices, but this one song was simply incredible. Whenever it came up it showed the title as being 'Nights in White Satin.'

Now I was raised listening to that song (guess I just dated myself, LOL) - it was one of my favorites, and this was not it (of course this version was in Italian, but still...). Whenever the song came on I had to stop what I was doing and just concentrate on the song.

Then I read the lyrics and realized, of course it WAS 'Nights in White Satin.'

Here is their version in a concert.

And for those not familiar with the song, it was first recorded in 1967 by Moody blues. Here is the original version.

Hope you enjoy it just half as much as I do.

THIS one is closer to what I remember. Ironically, it has a different cadence, and is easier to hear!

Throw this in a tab and let it play while you work

Sometimes less is more. A bit overblown for my taste, but I have seen the Moody Blues does this live on many occasions since the early 70's.

Somethings simply can't be improved upon. Cheers. - Frank

Yes, this style of music is certainly not for everyone. It's called 'pop opera' or 'popera'... a blend of pop and opera.

Sarah Brightman really started it with 'Time to say goodby'. When the song first came out I heard her sing it in English, Italian, German and French. The Italian version is incredible. Must be partial to Italian... one of my favorite singers is Italian tenor Alessandro Safina - another popera singer.

WOW! ones like: sound more like opera but "nights in white satin" doesn't, at least to ME. Of course BOTH are highly instrumental at some point, but that is relatively common.
