My kid pressed the silent alarm today at city hall

You can imagine what happened next. Interesting day ... to say the least.

Sorry ... don't get out to City Hall much. What is the silent alarm for? To call the Police?

Yup. It's the same as the silent alarm at a bank. Usually a problem gets
dealt with a call to 911. The silent alarm generally says something
really bad is happening ... like hostages, armed robbery stuff like that.

As a kid, I used to wonder if adults were EVER kids! As an adult, I STILL DO!!!!!!

SERIOUSLY, kids should be viewed like cats, in a way! EITHER can manage to get places you wouldn't expect. BOTH can be curious. And NEITHER will necessarily listen.

So if they have a button that is too obvious, too reachable, or they don't have enough supervision, EXPECT this!

He spends quite a bit of time there because of his grandmother.

Some of the staff hide candy ... and easter eggs for him in the
      offices, they love him.

He was looking for lollipops under a desk ... found a button and pushed it.

So, imo ... not his fault

The response was funny ... sort of. It took over an HOUR for them
to stop asking all the adults who pushed the button and eventually
think .. geee ... did the kid do it.

      Goofy adults ...lol

WOW! If nothing were in front of it, and it couldn't easily be reached accidentally, I would have suspected the KID first! Although "adults" seem to not properly appreciate such things, they should know it is problematic. They could get FINED for a false alarm.

Kids don't fully realize how things work, or appreciate such things, and so they do things like this.

HOPEFULLY your son knows he shouldn't open bottles, etc... And BELIEVE me! As a kid, EVERY kid I knew felt the SAME way I did about "child proof containers". They are STUPID! Seniors sometimes give such containers to little kids to open! Seniors might not have the dexterity or strength, or might not know how to open them, and kids can easily figure it out.

I'm still finding this pretty funny. I hope that they (cops) aren't holding this against you and your kid.

Nope no problems at all. Grandma has some serious pull.

If the adults didn't make ittoo obvious, and don'tdo it all the time, theresponders would likely let it slide. I don't think they would hold the kid responsible. I have seen a LOT of cases of careless people, like a kind of rest home that had people constantly burning food in the microwave, and one hotel had a guest that tried to cover up the closest smoke detector, but smoked up a storm and set off the fire alarm. THEY got ARRESTED, apparently for having POT.

I have heard fire alarms go off FAR more than any person should. I HATE them. A couple times, I planned to get an air horn to blast in the front desks faces when they had another alarm go off, to give them a tiny taste of how I felt about it.

I think it's hilarious! What else would you with a "found" button....but push it to see what happens?

BTW PLEASE don't take him to some place like NORAD! TEACH HIM first! I'm sure a lot get killed or hurt because of a persons misplaced curiosity.
