I wonder how Dennis Rodman feels about it.

North Korea insults Obama with racist barbs - CNN.com

North Korea's state media KCNA described President Barack Obama using racial epithets and likened him to a "wicked black monkey."

The most offensive piece, published in Korean on May 2 under the title "Divine punishment to the world's one and only delinquent Obama," repeatedly refers to him as a monkey.

"You can also tell this by his appearance and behavior, and while it may be because he is a crossbreed, one cannot help thinking the more one sees him that he has escaped from a monkey's body," it stated.

I'm sure there are slight translation problems with the attack on obama. I'm sure they meant only to insult HIM, and not a whole race. But hey, it isn't thefirst time, or the first country, so .....

No idea who really said that. No idea if the translation is making the problem worse.

But nations do the same thing. We (Americans) used to think the Japanese had fangs, and the Germans were monsters. Having an enemy, and dehumanizing that enemy is so common, it may be in our species' DNA.

The two political parties (in the US) are almost as bad, warping the reality of the other party. This "Our tribe is right, your tribe is a monster" idea comes from our brain stem. If you have no real information, it's the default position.

It's sad to watch, but it isn't uncommon.

Steve; I know you're joking. But yeah. See, we're in the same cities...so the lies can't be as outrageous. But an isolated country? Sure, you can make up complete story lines, about the evil enemies...and they will be believed.

But we are running out of isolated areas. And so most countries can't make such ridiculous statements, and expect the population to follow them.

It also helps that the dictator is an isolationist, and is nearly universally either feared or worshiped by his countrymen.

NK's leader has nothing good to say about the US or its govt or its people. Nothing new there. What is new is a translation (right or wrong) that appears to be personal to the President and appears to be racist. All of a sudden, it's news.

I'm sure Rodman can go back to NK and smooth it over....hopefully on one of these trips they'll keep him.

Considering all the crap he got from the "birther movement", this will be the least of his worries.

He may even be thinking to himself, "What, me worry?"

After what has happened here, he should be prepared for anything.

I agree -not a good man or judge....but why is that "news" dated today when the incident and new story occurred two years ago and the judge left the bench last year?

It's a downside of sites like that. No bad story ever dies or gets resolved - it just gets re-dated.

The fact that it was done, whenever it was done is related to the Kim story.

This guy drags Obama's mother into his hatred which reminds me of some people even trying to drag his mother in-law into the fray.

Had this been the 50s, they would likely have called her some bad names. And HE would be called a name that started with b but was not a color.

Yeah, and little Kimmy is just so intelligent and rational that the whole world gives a crap who he wants to insult? A fat little pompous kid that kills anyone who ticks him off, has a ridiculous haircut he's so enthralled with that he makes all the guys in his country get one just like it, has "global" tantrums. And we give a crap if he says just one more stupid thing? At least he's not axing people over it this time.

I suspect that however annoying anyone here finds North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un and his entourage, China's annoyance at him would be several times greater. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he met with a sudden stroke or mysterious accident distantly rendered by special invisibly applied technology.
