I was looking up benefits of coconut oil and stumbled across this about applying it to the face.... i think its kinda weird that you apply oil on the face, but it seems after googling some more, that there is a trend going on about applying various oils to the face...

here is the post if anyone is interested: Benefits of Coconut Oil on Face - 33 Secrets Revealed | eBay

Its on ebay so I guess I can't trust it as much, but it does sound convincing because acne is something I would like to get rid of - and i have used the oil before, and it does feel cooling, but ive only ever used it on the scalp.

Anyone ever try this? or used coconut oil before?

I am dropping the football sized capsules (3-4) a day because I have dry everything - dry eyes, dry hair, dry skin - only thing I notice is my hands are way soft now.

You will find some people here in the OT that swear by it and use it for all kinds of things - even spreading on toast!

With putting anything directly on the skin I can only say what I heard about how we used to break open Vitamin E oil capsules until I read that in order to be absorbed by the skin it has to be FOR the skin - so I don't know how that shakes out but if you drop the capsules or somehow ingest the oil I think it will do more good from the inside out.

From what I hear though people are doing both, even saying coconut oil is a sun screen!.

I eat it for a variety of health reasons.
In the winter I use it as a moisturizer.
Also I use it as a base for homemade deodorant.

I use it religiously for skin. It is extremely healthful. A lot of people are scared of sun causing wrinkles -- it only does in two circumstances. 1. you're burning - no, don't do that. Get about 15 minutes of sun on each side per day until you have enough color that you won't burn in a fairly long exposure. 2. You don't have enough of the right Omega oil balance in your cells and body. All that fake and polluted oil in processed foods is just withering people to nothing.

I not only use it after bath and at night topically - I eat at least a 1/2 spoon of it everyday to make sure I don't get that California raisin wannabe look to my skin.

I add it to my coffee. Also use it in oil pulling (tastes much better than olive oil).

Same here, it's not cheap where I am but I've been drinking some each day for a while. It's very good for rehydration too.

Mix it with some neat petrol Frank. You can't beat Castrol oil with petrol on the rocks with a slice of lemon.

Oh dear. I may have to stop on the coconut water after all. Hair I'm prepared to go without in time but I think I'll always feel the need to keep my skin.

But... I still need my hair and skin. Coconut oil is dangerous then? I don't mind being a coconut oil-based lifeform.
