Payback time: First patent troll ordered to pay "extraordinary case" fees

Supreme Court's change on fee rules allows FindTheBest to pummel a patent troll.
When Santa Barbara startup FindTheBest (FTB) was sued by a patent troll called Lumen View last year, it vowed to fight back rather than pay up... Company CEO Kevin O'Connor made it personal, pledging $1 million of his own money to fight the legal battle.
Once FindTheBest pursued the case, the company dismantled the troll in short order.
Now the judge overseeing the case has ruled that it's Lumen View, not FindTheBest, that should have to pay those expenses. In a first-of-its-kind implementation of new fee-shifting rules mandated by the Supreme Court,
I think the heyday of patent trolls is coming to an end.

A quick, interesting read.

MAN! PAUL beat me to the punch, and I was going to say the same! ABOUT TIME! I only wish I could thank you.

I HATE entities that patent obvious things, often without even knowing how to do them, and just wait for someone to do the obvious. If all the trolls could, and did, successfully sue all the time, nobody could even use HTTP. One person patented frames, another iframes, another pop up pages, another CGI. And these are NOT the people that created them. Amazon patented "one click ordering"! They sued barnes and noble, and forced them to change. Another company essentially patented the guts of most cell phones today. They sued RIMS, and put the whole company's future in question!

If only the companies that patent trolls went after were all situated in such a way that they could fight back.
I'm so against people who had nothing to do with the invention of something holding the patent to it it's not funny.
