Have you seen the latest rounds of "don't give icecubes to dogs on a hot day!" thingee?

Just think about it for a moment.

It's totally false:

"...He says he's seen the viral post scaring dog owners since 2007, and it just recently made a comeback on social media.

"If the dog is overheated and dehydrated, and desperate for fluids and they consume huge, huge amounts of ice cubes or water all at one time, it could create a situation where the dog could bloat," Dr. Carpenter said.

But that's true for large amounts of any temperature water, he added.

He says just consuming cold water or ice cubes in moderation will not cause bloat, saying ice cubes and water when the weather is hot is a good thing.

Though the article seems very real, even scientific enough to scare the most educated pet owner, the findings behind it are simply false.

"Ice cubes and cold water are fine for pets as long as it's done with some common sense," Dr. Carpenter said.

Just look at all the viral inaccurate garbage people share on FB everyday. It seems I'm always pointing them to snopes.

        How ironic.

Snopes is not an authority site. Read their disclaimer on their about page. All these people do is dig a little deeper on the net than others. They get small stuff without too much problem, but there are things that are very important that they just completely miss the boat on. I've seen them wrong many times.

I've had a few acquaintances/relatives say something like "People are so stupid".

And Sometimes I'll say "Yeah, for instance there are some people that believe..."

And I'll just start listing common superstitions, old wives tales, and medieval beliefs.....

They usually laugh at the first few...but it doesn't take long, before I hit on one or two that they believe in.

It's only funny to me. And it isn't recommended, if you want the person to like you.

If you own a retail store, you'll have people ask you silly questions. But then I just imagine all the idiotic things I've asked when shopping at a different retail store..

Remember, we all have vast areas of knowledge that we know nothing about. And we all believe things that are absolutely not true. And we all say things, that to someone, sound idiotic. And that includes me as much as anyone else.

        That fact keeps me laughing.

Agreed, but what's described above is not the same as gullibility. Truly gullible individuals are receptive to believing just about anything.

          Trust me.

And we all believe lots of things that simply aren't true. What you call "gullible", others may just call "trusting".

Absolutely less than 5% of the people I talk to, exhibit any degree of critical thinking.

So I group everyone out of that 5% in the same group. And even having developed critical thinking skills, doesn't mean that you are right....it just means your think process is more active.

Maybe only 5-10% of the adults on this planet simply believe everything at face value...without any thought at all. And they should be supervised....and not allowed to write checks. I know, I've met them.

I`ve never met anyone like that???

I've met many adults who did not challenge commonly accepted beliefs, however.

But it was more in the line of accepting authority unquestionably.
