The matches of the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil? - FIFA.com

I would like to see Iran, Japan or South Korea winning the FIFA World Cup

Iran have a really good team very organized and so well coordinated.

No chance that they will let Iran win... so...

Maybe Uruguay will win the FIFA World Cup?

Sorry I wasn't counting England as big.

Yup America can call that a victory over Portugal as far as I'm concerned and the Italians will be out if they don't beat Uruguay and vice versa.

Still plenty of big teams though, trouble is the gap isn't much between the big and the rest, who are getting pretty big too.

In all fairness, Portugal and Italy are very close to going. If those two and Spain are all gone in the group stages, that is rather unexpected, though it's not all the big teams. Everyone was touting Brazil and Argentina at the start but I reckon this could go anyway it wants.

England are out but he said big.

Either way, watching Cameroon is definitely the most entertaining. From a good old fist fight point of view.

I wouldn't be surprised, they look good and they always do well in the big events, amongst others, I've money on them too.

Besides, the thought they made Ronaldo cry in the showers after that slaughter fills me with joy.

America came close to making him have a second little blubber. Dam close as well.

I think Brazil is going to be hard to beat, not just because they are playing in their home country, but the climate plays a HUGE role, so much so that FIFA created new "break" rules for players. I saw this in the game yesterday when the USA played Portugal (the US should have won that game but they kept falling asleep on defense).

Teams that aren't used to playing in the hot, humid weather are going to be at a serious disadvantage.

Mexico looks like they're playing very well and pick them to be the upset team to win the world cup.

Though my first pick is Brazil since they're playing at home and they're used to the hot and humid weather.

I'd like to see Costa Rica win the world cup, not before England restore some pride and give them a good spanking first though.

England may have disappointingly gone out in the first round, but at the end of the tournament there's only one winner. That's the time to do your gloating.

Yes but in his defence, Luis thought it was 'just football' and bless him he hurt his teeth, look.

Anyway, according to the Uruguayan President and others in Uruguay defending him, it's not his fault he bit someone, the fault lies with the British press. They weren't actually on the pitch biting people at the time but it's their fault.

Besides this is only the third time he's eaten people on a football pitch.

Funniest comment I've read is that Suarez is hoping for a Uruguay v Germany clash so he can try shoulder of Lahm.

Quality Frank, sadly I was eating lunch as I read that so some food flew out. Ironically I was actually eating an Italian too, though it was a penne al arrabiata thankfully.

I think he should play the next game so long as precautions are taken...

As for the President of Uruguay saying he didn't see him bite anyone, well, there's proof you just can't trust a politician. (EDIT. In hindsight I believe it's the FA President of Uruguay that said that, my mistake. I still don't trust politicians though)

      Yes!

      The biter is out!!!

World Cup 2014: Luis Suárez banned for four months over 'bite'

      This was 3 minutes ago...

"LS is regarded as having breached article 48 paragraph 1 of the Fifa disciplinary code, and article 57. He is to be suspended for nine official matches. The first match of this suspension is to be served in the upcoming Fifa World Cup game between Uruguay and Colombia." The nine-match ban is from all internationals.

There's also a four-month ban from all football, according to article 22 of the Fifa disciplinary code. And a ban from all football stadiums while matches are in progress, according to article 21. Plus a fine of 100,000 Swiss francs.
But This was 1 minute ago...

The decision is not yet final and binding. An appeal can be lodged by the player or the Uruguay FA. "The appeal does not have a suspensive effect except with regard to orders to pay a sum of money." So an appeal would not allow Suárez to play in the Round of 16.

Well I've got to take my hat off and congratulate America for getting through a group with Germany and Portugal in it. If I'd seen that coming I'd be decidedly better off financially than I am now.

Well done and I shall add you to Holland as my teams to support. In fact in an incredibly un-English and make my Grandad turn in his grave sort of way, I'm even rather happy to see the Germans go through.

On a lighter note, this video has gone viral, I'm sure it's just Luis cheering but it does look like he's so excited Gerrard scored, he appears to try and tuck into his arm.

First you've got to beat Belgium .

As Australia are out (as expected), I'm going for the complete underdogs Costa Rica to kick some ass.

For the final, I'm predicting a France or Germany or Netherlands v Argentina or Brazil clash.

Just for the hell of it though, I'd love to see a USA v Costa Rica final.

        Beat Belgium....

I am from Belgium - a lot of party - ing going on here since the national team wan three times so far...

Very, very good for the atmosphere in this little crazy country, where we have 3 governements in 3 different languages AND an eternal debat between the Walloons and the Flanders people ...french language versus dutch language...

But the WCup brings us all together somewhat...

Let's see if they can beat the US ...

The ultimate duel (if ever) would be between Holland-Belgium ...that would be fireworks !! since beginning of time there is this rivalery between these little neighbour countries -
