Germany really helped the US by thrashing Portugal in the first game. That left Portugal having to beat Ghana by 4 goals or more to qualify.
Well done though. From now on this is where things get serious.
The US next comes up against Belgium who're playing well. If (big word there), they beat Belgium, they next meet either Switzerland or Argentina. It'll probably be Argentina, and in all likelihood will lose to them. Still, making the quarter finals would be a pretty good outcome, especially considering reigning champions Spain are on their way home already.
Considering that Germany and USA only needed a tie to both proceed, I was pretty sure both teams weren't playing VERY seriously on the game before. And yes, Germany helped a lot by smashing Portugal 5-0, we gotta thank Germany.
Not sure if they can win Round of 16, though, Belgium is hella skilled. I saw they're game with Korea and they're defense is crazy.
