Wake up early or go to sleep late?

Hey warriors!

Simple question. Are you a 'morning person' or do you rather keep going till late?

I absolutely cant get up earlier than 8am or so - its freaking impossible, even if I sleep for 12 hours.

I figured out that as long as I dont sleep for more than 7 hours or so, my day is still as long as it would be if I got to sleep earlier/woke up earlier.

Still, Ive been hearing non-stop about how good it is to wake up early (6am). I did try doing that a few times and I gota admit, the day does seem much longer...

What are your thoughts? Worth it to get up at 6 or not?

Cheers!

    Do what's good for you.

If you are you most productive at night then stick to it.

Sometimes the early bird don't catch the worm The night owl does.

We are all different I'm definitely a night owl at least its when I'm most productive.

We know that "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy & wise". But I am so sorry to inform here, that the Young generation do not follow the above statement. Generally all of the young generation except CHINES, go bed at late & wake up late also. Here er need know that about 6 to 8 hours sleep is okay for any sound health.

      Way to generalize.

I have to do a hybrid of both now.

During the days where I'm around family i have to save work for late night where no one can bother me.

When it's quiet and I have some alone time early wake up can be perfect for tackling and starting new projects.

Late night work tends to targeti continued projects and growth whereas morning work tends to be the catalyst for new stuff to happen.

Indeed, that's what I found out too! Doing some slightly boring work seems OK for me late at night, while being creative is pretty hard. It's exactly the opposite in the morning!

It's all about getting into a routine and sticking to it. If you are doing this part time (ie workin another job) I recommend getting up early rather than doing a full shift at the day job then trying to get into doing the extra work when you are tired

I don't sleep well, insomnia, so takes me a long time to sleep at night.

So no alarm clocks for me at the moment I sleep until I wake.

Though having a strict routine and getting up at a set time every day can lead to more productivity. I'm pretty unmotivated at the moment.

I just started getting up at 6:30am to jog.

It was a pain in the butt, but each day gets easier and easier.

If you're a night owl, don't force yourself to wake up early.

The reason waking early works so well for a lot of people is
    1. Peace: other people are still asleep, so no distractions
    2. Fresh: not tired after a day of work and errands
    3. Personal biological rhythm

I personally need to do important things early in the morning - in the evening all my willpower is used up on trivial matter I encounter during the day. But everyone is different, you know? Figure out your most productive time (and situation... work place organization etc.) so you can create your ideal work schedule.

The question is whether the millions of years of evolution have had any impact or not. Until not so long ago people went to bed after sunset and woke up before sunrise.

When you are asking about getting up early you are probably thinking of using an alarm clock? I think this is already a bad idea. You probably should wake up when your body is ready to wake up.
I haven't used alarm clock for 15 years. I go to sleep at midnight and wake up at 6 or 7am during summer. At 8am during winter. I can't imagine sleeping past 8am.

1 to 2 hours less per day if they eat raw food. Easier to digest, less energy spent, thus less time required to restore.

I wouldn't consider myself a morning person as I struggle to get up any earlier than 8am (no matter how early I go to bed), however when I get up early I always achieve more than if I stayed up late.

So I'd vote for getting up early. I just need to discipline myself more as I'd like to be able to get up at 5 or 6am. It gives you a good start on the day and you can get so much done while others are still asleep. If I stay up late usually all I do is watch TV.

I am typically up at 5:50 am - sometimes 6.

I go to bed anywhere from 11:30 PM to 1 AM.

    Been like that for years.

Go to bed at 1 or 2AM.....always get up at 8:45 AM, to get ready for work. Never need an alarm clock. On Sunday, I may sleep in to 10AM. For some reason, my brain knows it's Sunday, and won't wake me up like every other day of the week.

I generally go to bed, when my eyesight gets a tad blurry, and reading becomes a chore.

I'm in bed about 12 - 12.30 and get up about 7, including weekends. Sometimes I'll have a kip in the afternoon, sometimes not.

It is not always possible, but I love to go to sleep about 9PM and get up about 3 or 4 am. from the time I get up until about 7 am are my most productive times for writing or computer work. I can often get more done in those hours than all day long if I get up at 8.
