It's not sexist if it specifies "blond"/blonde" or even just "blond(e)".

If it says "blonde", the spelling referring to a female, then I think it's probably sexist.

(The pink smiley is only colourist, not sexist at all, of course.)

HUH? Blond can mean male or female, though I think most infer it is a woman in such jokes, especially with much of the context. I never heard of blonde meaning a woman, though there are clearly references.

HECK, blondie used to be a derisive term some would use towards mainly blond haired women. Of course there IS that famous singer!

But only about 1/5th of the world is blond and MOST, perhaps all, are caucasion. So one COULD make a case for it being RACIST.

Luckily, like polish jokes, I think most just take it in stride!

Steve, Alexa's correct. Blonde is female and blond, male.

Blondel, however, was the name of a philosopher, a tightrope walker, and a Medieval minstrel - the subject of a musical by Tim Rice and Stephen Oliver.

They were all male, albeit French.

I hate to say it, but the general acceptance of blonde jokes displays societal bias. I don't hear orange hair jokes or turquoise hair jokes, and that says volumes.

No problem, it happened long, long ago. His hair was more orange than red. Not quite carrot orange, but very close.

I don't know. I was in the Navy at the time. All I really know is his motorcycle broke down and he was pushing it to the gas station when he was struck from behind by a drunk driver. All I know about the drunk driver is that it was an 18 or 19 year old girl.

I have several friends that are natural blondes. Male and Female. I'm sorry. I find blond jokes descriptive, not sexist (etc).

I am always irritated with people who accuse me of being blond. I'd much rather cop to grey with a tad of wisdom rather than a more youthful blond and dead stupid. I'll swear there has to be scientific studies that back me up somewhere. It's just too precise to be coincidental.

I have always said that the derision of 'blondes' is about the peroxide.

I do not think naturally blond or blonde people are dumb at all.

There is something about the peroxide that does something to their brains.

By the way many of the most famous (and dumbest) blondes were/are brunettes.

People like 'dumb' blondes because they are harmless and nobody is threatened by a 'DITZ'.

'Blondes have more fun', 'gentlemen prefer blondes' - now this has brought in a bit of jealousy if you are not blonde, not to mention inferiority complexes for everybody who wasn't.

I have a friend who calls me 'blonde' whenever I say something Ditzy - which is quite often and as you can see I don't have a blonde hair on my head, natural or otherwise.

Just usual blonde logic.

I know how to make a blonde/blond laugh. If you are not, er, golden-haired but laugh a lot, bleach your hair with peroxide and -- almost instantly -- you'll be a laughing blond/blonde.
