I'm not a huge Lebron fan but this is a good decision for him and I respect him for it. It should interesting to see what happens next year.

  • I'm glad he went back. I know he had every right as a free agent to decide where he wants to play. But Cleveland and Ohio really need(ed) him. His situation was and is a little different than other NBA stars.

My complaint with him now is how he uses his leverage to his competitive advantage. None of the greats of the past did this and played with the hands they were dealt. There was a great column in the Denver Post recently that called Duncan "King Tim" because Timmay has 5 rings and James only 2, with Duncan not playing leverage game.

BTW, I'd bet Carmelo Vazquez will stay in NY, as it's La La that calls the shots in that family. Ironic, considering Melo's claim that the Nuggets weren't competitive. How's that working out for you Melo?

  • That means Bosh goes to Houston and they match the Mavs offer to Parsons. Wish he had stayed in Miami.

  • Jeremy Lin traded to the Lakers. Lakers fans must brace for the Lin Only Fans.

Bosh is going to re-sign with the Heat it seems. Yay! That means Houston must either match Parsons and use up their cap space or let him go and sign someone else. So we are talking about the last year Rockets team with no Jeremy Lin as backup or last year's Rockets with no Chandler Parsons AND Jeremy Lin with Deng or Ariza playing SF. Either way it was a bad off-season for the Rockets and Cuban's gamble on Parsons seems to have worked to hurt the Rockets. But hope they don't match the Parsons offer.

    Cuban 1, Morey 0.

Mavericks on the other hand are having a decent off-season. We brought back Tyson Chandler, for Samuel Dalembert. Raymond Felton for Jose Calderon was a severe downgrade but if we could trade Felton and sign someone like Mo Williams to play with Devin Harris, and maybe re-sign Dejuan Blair to backup Chandler with Wright backing up Dirk, we have a good team. The problem is nobody would trade for Felton so we might be stuck with him.

    PF: Dirk
    C: Chandler
SF: Parsons (hopefully). Or else Deng/Ariza.
    SG: Ellis.
    PG: Harris.

That's a decent starting five. We gave the Spurs a run for their money in the playoffs even with a crappy center.

  • As a Laker fan I'm not happy with the trade for Lin.

Lebrons' news is a blockbuster I never expected. I suspect in four years he'll move on again and once again garner the hatred of millions of fans - especially those in Cleveland.

I think he's trying to become the ultimate sports mercenary - not that there's anything wrong with that.

    • No way! He wouldn't dare leave again. Would he?...

    • This is why the Lakers are so bad anymore......the timing of this is so off, it's not funny.

Jeremy Lin would have been a better fit with No-D'Antoni than whoever is going to be the coach now. Why get him after you fire the guy?
  • I would like to see his career end in Cleveland also. I know he's a great player but hearing talks that Cleveland is now in contention of a championship is a little stretch, time will tell though, hoping the team has a lot of success this year.
  • Rockets sign Ariza! Oh Boy! Deng doing a deal with Heat. If Rockets match Parsons too then Mavs will have no one left to sign. That's a master move by Morey. But, I doubt highly that the Rockets would match. Paying 8 mil for a backup SF is too much and that would also tie up their cap space next season.

But as of now, advantage Morey! :O

    • Well Sumit, your Mavs got Parsons. He's a good player but I think they may have overpaid him. What do you think? One thing about the Mavs is they probably have the second best coach in the league who can bring out the best in players. We'll see if Parsons will be worth the money.

  • The irony of this is James just might be the missing ingredient in Cleveland.

Right now, they have a young team in desperate need of leadership, which is what LeBron evolved into in Miami out of necessity.

Truth is, when I first saw the Heat, the team screamed "Philadelphia '76'ers to me".

For those who don't know, in the 1980's the Philly teams were an excellent collection of talent with any leadership. They won as many games as Boston and LA, only to fall short when it counted.

That changed when they finally got the leader they needed....Moses Malone.

Miami was the same way, until LeBron stepped forward and evolved into their leader. Then the Heat finally fulfilled their promise and won NBA titles.

Now that Pat Riley created a finished product with him, he's ready to go back to Cleveland and will their young collection of talent to further titles.

Just sit back and watch the next NBA dynasty grow up before your eyes......

    • That 6ers team is one of the best of all time. They just weren't together long enough to win tons of titles.

But Moses, DR J, Toney, Bobby Jones, Mo Cheeks, Dawkins, Caldwell Jones could play with anyone.

And when are the Lakers going to actually hire a coach? How do you go through the draft and free agency without a head coach's imput? Plus they lose Pau and gain Lin. Another step back...Without Dr. Buss and Jerry West running things, it could be a long time for them to be winners again. TL has been placed on suicide watch.

Bulls look tough with the two best passing big men in the game in Pau and Noah.

Nuggets rookie Gary Harris has been the best player in the Las Vegas league games. Still very early, but he looked great so far.

BTW, I believe Lebron's contract is for two years...I bet if the Cavs knew Lebron was coming back they would have taken Embiid instead of Wiggins.

  • As much as I want to whine, complain, and say hate messages at Lebron, Cleveland is his home. Period. I'm glad the people embraced him back again. That Cavaliers team is stacked with #1 picks. They're going to win games now and in the future.

I'm actually happy with how the East have become in this year's free agency. Pau to Chi, Wizards loading quality and role players, Lance to Hornets, I forgot where Haywood landed. But, great players have shifted from West to east. I want to see a more competitive Eastern Conference.
  • I'm glad he is heading home. I bet all those Cavs fans are kicking themselves for burning their Lebron jerseys 4/5 years ago.
  • Dirk took a $14 mn/yr. paycut for Parsons. In 2010, Dirk signed a $80 mn deal for four years when he could've signed a $96 mn contract for the same period. In 2014, he signs a $25 mn deal for 3 years when he could've made in excess of $65 mn.

Compare that to Carmelo Anthony who says he wants a championship but signs an almost max deal with the rebuilding Knicks. Glad he didn't come to Dallas.
