I'm not a huge Lebron fan but this is a good decision for him and I respect him for it. It should interesting to see what happens next year.

I'm glad he went back. I know he had every right as a free agent to decide where he wants to play. But Cleveland and Ohio really need(ed) him. His situation was and is a little different than other NBA stars.

My complaint with him now is how he uses his leverage to his competitive advantage. None of the greats of the past did this and played with the hands they were dealt. There was a great column in the Denver Post recently that called Duncan "King Tim" because Timmay has 5 rings and James only 2, with Duncan not playing leverage game.

BTW, I'd bet Carmelo Vazquez will stay in NY, as it's La La that calls the shots in that family. Ironic, considering Melo's claim that the Nuggets weren't competitive. How's that working out for you Melo?

That means Bosh goes to Houston and they match the Mavs offer to Parsons. Wish he had stayed in Miami.

Jeremy Lin traded to the Lakers. Lakers fans must brace for the Lin Only Fans.

Bosh is going to re-sign with the Heat it seems. Yay! That means Houston must either match Parsons and use up their cap space or let him go and sign someone else. So we are talking about the last year Rockets team with no Jeremy Lin as backup or last year's Rockets with no Chandler Parsons AND Jeremy Lin with Deng or Ariza playing SF. Either way it was a bad off-season for the Rockets and Cuban's gamble on Parsons seems to have worked to hurt the Rockets. But hope they don't match the Parsons offer.

    Cuban 1, Morey 0.

Mavericks on the other hand are having a decent off-season. We brought back Tyson Chandler, for Samuel Dalembert. Raymond Felton for Jose Calderon was a severe downgrade but if we could trade Felton and sign someone like Mo Williams to play with Devin Harris, and maybe re-sign Dejuan Blair to backup Chandler with Wright backing up Dirk, we have a good team. The problem is nobody would trade for Felton so we might be stuck with him.

    PF: Dirk
    C: Chandler
SF: Parsons (hopefully). Or else Deng/Ariza.
    SG: Ellis.
    PG: Harris.

That's a decent starting five. We gave the Spurs a run for their money in the playoffs even with a crappy center.

As a Laker fan I'm not happy with the trade for Lin.

Lebrons' news is a blockbuster I never expected. I suspect in four years he'll move on again and once again garner the hatred of millions of fans - especially those in Cleveland.

I think he's trying to become the ultimate sports mercenary - not that there's anything wrong with that.

No way! He wouldn't dare leave again. Would he?...

I can't see Lebron leaving again unless the next 4 years or so don't produce a championship team. He says he wants to end his career in Cleveland.

I hear the Cavs are going after Love now and Love says he would play for the new Lebron led Cavs. That is bad news for my Warriors of course. I have been envisioning Love playing along side Curry, Thompson, Iguodala, Bogut for a few weeks now. I still hope that can happen. What a shooting team that would be! :p

This is why the Lakers are so bad anymore......the timing of this is so off, it's not funny.

Jeremy Lin would have been a better fit with No-D'Antoni than whoever is going to be the coach now. Why get him after you fire the guy?

I would like to see his career end in Cleveland also. I know he's a great player but hearing talks that Cleveland is now in contention of a championship is a little stretch, time will tell though, hoping the team has a lot of success this year.

Rockets sign Ariza! Oh Boy! Deng doing a deal with Heat. If Rockets match Parsons too then Mavs will have no one left to sign. That's a master move by Morey. But, I doubt highly that the Rockets would match. Paying 8 mil for a backup SF is too much and that would also tie up their cap space next season.

But as of now, advantage Morey! :O

Well Sumit, your Mavs got Parsons. He's a good player but I think they may have overpaid him. What do you think? One thing about the Mavs is they probably have the second best coach in the league who can bring out the best in players. We'll see if Parsons will be worth the money.

He is overpaid but you need to look at our rest of the starters from last year.
        Shawn Marion - 35
        Jose Calderon - 31
        Dirk Nowitzki - 35
        Samuel Dalembert - 33
        Monta Ellis - 27

We needed some young blood. Dirk will retire soon and then what will be left of the Mavs? Parsons recruited Howard to the Rockets it seems. We need someone to recruit a star after Dirk retires. Next year we can recruit another decent player with the salary cap we'll have left when Chandler's contract expires.

Marion was paid I believe 9 mil last season and Dirk was paid 20. Compared to that 15 for Parsons and 10 for Dirk is a significant upgrade. The only qualm I have about this is that we had to let Dejuan Blair go.

Afflalo says Nuggets can be contenders this year:

I'm happy to be back in Denver, I got some very familiar teammates. I believe this is a championship team under the right mindset and coaching.
Arron Afflalo thinks Denver Nuggets can contend for title - ESPN

Crazy and super talented Lance Stephenson signs with Charlotte. My Warriors resign Brandon Rush after one year in Utah. The Timberwolves still are holding onto hopes that Kevin Love will play for them this year and decide to stay, but what have they done so far in the off season? They signed G Zach LaVine and rehired Flip Saunders as coach. Not exactly moves that will get Love excited imo.

Has anyone been watching the summer league? I've watched a few with my NBA fanatic girlfriend. lol. It seems the Spurs have two good rookies that are going to play this year. They just may be a better team than last year. The Warriors have had Jrue Holiday's brother Justin playing with them and he looks really good. The guy can score.

The irony of this is James just might be the missing ingredient in Cleveland.

Right now, they have a young team in desperate need of leadership, which is what LeBron evolved into in Miami out of necessity.

Truth is, when I first saw the Heat, the team screamed "Philadelphia '76'ers to me".

For those who don't know, in the 1980's the Philly teams were an excellent collection of talent with any leadership. They won as many games as Boston and LA, only to fall short when it counted.

That changed when they finally got the leader they needed....Moses Malone.

Miami was the same way, until LeBron stepped forward and evolved into their leader. Then the Heat finally fulfilled their promise and won NBA titles.

Now that Pat Riley created a finished product with him, he's ready to go back to Cleveland and will their young collection of talent to further titles.

Just sit back and watch the next NBA dynasty grow up before your eyes......

That 6ers team is one of the best of all time. They just weren't together long enough to win tons of titles.

But Moses, DR J, Toney, Bobby Jones, Mo Cheeks, Dawkins, Caldwell Jones could play with anyone.

And when are the Lakers going to actually hire a coach? How do you go through the draft and free agency without a head coach's imput? Plus they lose Pau and gain Lin. Another step back...Without Dr. Buss and Jerry West running things, it could be a long time for them to be winners again. TL has been placed on suicide watch.

Bulls look tough with the two best passing big men in the game in Pau and Noah.

Nuggets rookie Gary Harris has been the best player in the Las Vegas league games. Still very early, but he looked great so far.

BTW, I believe Lebron's contract is for two years...I bet if the Cavs knew Lebron was coming back they would have taken Embiid instead of Wiggins.

iam late to the game as I have been traveling cross country with family.

I can't say that I am upset with Lebron's decision. I just cannot stand the Heat , and I am glad that is over with.

Although it is a shame because Lebron was on the verge of building a dynasty with heat in the next 5 years Two more NBA titles with them and imo they would have been considered a Dynasty .

But we will not see that now.

I am predicting that the Cavs and Lebron do not win an NBA title.

I just feel they won't. It takes more than just one man. As is obvious in his first 7 years with Cavs.

The fans will be in for huge disappointments in Cleveland in the next few years.

There is just too much pressure on one man and the Fans are just too desperate.

This is not a recipe for success !

Cleveland has better young talent than you give them credit for.

Trust me, it's going to take a couple of years of King James beating them into shape, but they have the horses to win and win now.

LeBron didn't do this move simply to placate his hometown, he knows something, and we are about to find it what it was he saw in them.

Last time the Lakers rushed hiring a coach, they took No-D'Antonio which proved to be a monumental mistake IMHO.

So yeah, I'm fully onboard with them doing the search they are doing. Make no mistake, this team is a shattered mess that is going to take years to rebuild, so they might as well take their time this year, and hire the right guy for the long haul instead of jumping in with a quick hire mistake again.

Yeah, it's going to suck next year for the lakeshow, but at least with the right man in place, the future will be much brighter again.

I disagree. Not having a head coach made it impossible for them to get any decent free agents. Every player wants to know the system before committing to a team.

And waiting in no way ensures they will get the "right guy". Who is this magical coach that's going to pop up after all this time? I have a feeling it isn't so much their search, but coaches not wanting to coach there, or at least for the terms they are being offered.

What will happen is, the Lakers will hire Byron Scott, like Kobe wants, and they could have done this weeks ago.

I don't think Miami would have won another Championship with the big three there. The Spurs kicked their butt and a few other teams in the west likely would have beat them in the finals. Lebron realized this and it probably hastened his return to Cleveland imo. Cleveland will instantly become a contender to make the finals and if they get Love or Monroe or make a trade they could be a lock to make the finals easily as Miami did. The East just isn't that deep, although a couple teams like Chicago and Washington are going to be better.

I don't know what is up with the Lakers. They are a disaster and I am enjoying it. Why they wouldn't sign a coach by now is beyond me. Perhaps nobody wants to coach them. lol

As much as I want to whine, complain, and say hate messages at Lebron, Cleveland is his home. Period. I'm glad the people embraced him back again. That Cavaliers team is stacked with #1 picks. They're going to win games now and in the future.

I'm actually happy with how the East have become in this year's free agency. Pau to Chi, Wizards loading quality and role players, Lance to Hornets, I forgot where Haywood landed. But, great players have shifted from West to east. I want to see a more competitive Eastern Conference.

Dirk took a $14 mn/yr. paycut for Parsons. In 2010, Dirk signed a $80 mn deal for four years when he could've signed a $96 mn contract for the same period. In 2014, he signs a $25 mn deal for 3 years when he could've made in excess of $65 mn.

Compare that to Carmelo Anthony who says he wants a championship but signs an almost max deal with the rebuilding Knicks. Glad he didn't come to Dallas.
