Customer tries to disconnect. Comcast avoids it at all costs. Painful audio:

Listen to Comcast torture Ryan Block and Veronica Belmont as they try to cancel service - Boing Boing

I know it's their job, but at what point is it just ridiculous?

Wow. That was worse than canceling AOL years ago.

That customer maintained his cool better than I would have. I don't think Comcast isn't available in my area, but this recording ensures that I'd never sign up with them if they did come here. That kind of treatment is SO annoying.

Just when you think you've got it all figured out, someone changes the rules.

  • I can't think of any company that I actively dislike as much as Comcast. These guys are truly awful.

I hate HughesNet every bit as much as Comcast... maybe more. It took 3 separate long calls to cancel the service after 3 months of them charging us but not providing the service. Kept having tech guys call me and say they're working on it. I had to go back to Mindspring to connect until I got the Droid tethered.

They were every bit as annoying as this call was when trying to cancel and then once they finally got it through their thick skulls that we were canceling, they threw the $346 early termination fee on the credit card. They are the worst "broadband" provider I've ever used.

I've been a public speaker for a long, long time. It's kind of funny how many speeches I've seen about customer is king, customer service should be your competitive edge, etc. And then this crap happens all the time.

A while back I played that cable TV game where you take time off to be there when they come to hook it up. At the time, I had a high-pressure job, but was too cheap (and paranoid) to pay someone to wait all day.

Around 4p, they assured me they would be there. At 430p (5pm cutoff on the 9a-5p window) they said they are on the way. At 450p they said they were in the area and would be there shortly.

        No one ever showed.

I know, silly me. They got me.

For some reason, I believed them when they said they would be there that day, and then they got me again when they said they were "in the area."

        My bad.

I cancelled the order and went with Direct TV and loved it.

I had directv for a few years (two receivers). One of the receivers just stopped working, this was the main receiver in the bedroom, the 2nd receiver was in the living room.

I called directv to ask If they could tell me why my receiver stopped working, the lady told me I cancelled my account. I was like what the heck are you talking about? The 2nd receiver was still working fine but the account was closed, how does that work?

I didn't cancel my account before that phone call.

For the next 1/2 hour the crazy lady tries to up sale me, I came unglued. She wanted me to pay more money for a higher end receiver. More money than what I had already been paying for a service that just stopped working out of the blue + told me I called & cancelled my account & she argued with me when I told her I didn't close my account. Keep in mind the 2nd receiver was still working...

When I made that call I was willing to pay for a service call or whatever, I just wanted the receiver to work like it had been for years.

I've never been so mad at any service provider, something was seriously wrong with that lady, lol. For real, she had to be mental or something.

I eventually got her to cancel the account (proof, no receivers were then working), after her sales pitch.

I will never again have directv. NEVER NEVER NEVER
