Why didn't they do this with superman, aquaman, spiderman, wonderwoman, etc.... YOU KNOW, something they do, or could, OWN.

NO, they decided to do this with a Norse god SO famous and old that he has his own DAY!!!!!!!! THOR! YEAH, the danes have torsdag.("Thor's day") THOR is actually pronounced TOR. HE was the god of Thunder, so Germans call it Donners tag(day of thunder). Of course, english is a germanic language taking from both, so we have THURSday!

But NO, they have said that ALL of history, and the religion were WRONG!. THOR is a WOMAN!

OK, so THAT is how it is going to be? Several thousand years after thor, it is rumored that there was a "......censored.... followers. What don't they make HIM a woman!?

Ummm... Steve? Can you back up the claim that the god of thunder was a woman?

I've never heard this before, and I'm somewhat interested in the topic. Or have I missed something?

PS: Never mind. I misread the OP. Who did this, and where?

      Paul;

Thor, in the comics is going to be female. Or rather, Marvel is going to have a series with a female Thor.

Raising a child is akin to knowing you're getting fired in 18 years and having to train your replacement without actively sabotaging them.

          I know.

I started writing my post before you posted yours. As soon as I saw my post...after yours, I was going to delete mine. But I had a link, I thought might be useful. So I modified my post, and left the link.

This is the new thing. DC did the whole reboot thing and tossed out decades of history for a number of super heroes.

Now that I've read the report...

They're not saying anything about the previous Thor, or changing the history at all. Just giving the job to someone else now. It fits with the way they've always written the character. Or, more precisely, the story of the hammer.

In the Marvel universe, anyone can be Thor as long as they're deemed worthy and can get their paws on the magic mallet.

If they somehow become unworthy, it stops working for them. Apparently, the previous Thor lost his mojo and his replacement happens to be a woman.

              Steven,

Nothing new about changing the official continuity. The older companies do it occasionally to allow them to bring things more current, or to fix continuity problems that develop over the course of the various storylines.

Sometimes they just change things and "forget" the originals. For example, in the very early days, the Batman carried a gun and shot people. Wasn't for long (maybe only a single issue), but it's a huge variance from the code the character has followed for a long time.

If I remember correctly, at one time, Captain America picked up the hammer, because he was worthy. And in a Marvel/DC crossover, so did Superman.

Also, sometimes the cast of characters and their back stories, become too complex, and keeping the continuity becomes a problem. Remember when Superman had Supergirl, super monkey, super horse, super dog, super cat...probably Super goldfish?

And Superman had like 3 girlfriends? One was a mermaid? Then DC created different Earths, to each contain different versions of reality? It got very complicated.

Yep, recurring pattern in society, something is great and they f*** it up or make it worse, by fiddling around with it!

The remake of Star Wars, tv shows and especially music, sound worse, when reedited to make it sound better!

Hmmmm, l was expecting some super hero, with exposed oversized breasts, to show up, glad, that she actually looks human!

But these are for kids, so good to know some restraint is occuring!

From a relative point of view, this is not new at all since they've been making female counterparts for male dominated superheroes. (See Rule 63 of the internet) That explains why the Thor in the movies is so into "Shakespeare in the park? Doth mother know you weareth her drapes?" quote by Tony Stark. She's a woman, really?! And the shiny silky blonde hair... they've been giving us hints since the beginning. But meh, the only female counterpart I'm attracted to is the She Hulk.

Captain America is now a black guy:

    https://movies.yahoo.com/news/marvel...074000245.html

This storyline makes sense - as much as any comic book storyline can make sense. They aren't retconning Steve Rogers as an African American. The Falcon is taking over for what I assume will be a short while.

I actually like the idea of the Falcon taking on a more "front of the pack" role. Maybe this will lead to a more with-the-times version of the Falcon. Or maybe they already have. My comicbook zeigeist is stuck in the early '90s.

It won't last. Captain America has already died and come back to live, and Bucky was Captain America for awhile.

Yeah, I know what you mean about being stuck in the 90's with comics. I stopped buying them regularly in the 1980s. It's hard to keep up with the story lines. $4 for a comic book? No.
