Ebola...End Of The World?

I don't know about you, but I'm scared shitless over this. I won't go through the more than likely scenario of how this spreads all over leaving about 6 million people alive throughout the world.

What's scares me the most is this is absolutely the worst way there is to die. I'd probably go out and buy a gun and blow my brains out before I let this thing kill me if I found out I was infected.

Okay, so what do you all think? Are we doomed? Am I worrying for nothing?

Discuss.

Have you seen the film 'Outbreak'? With Dustin Hoffman. I don't recommend you do. I've read a book too called Hot Zone which the film was based on. It';s scary as hell stuff.

I was thinking earlier and I'm not a religious man but with all the fighting and man's inability to learn from previous conflicts, is this God or natures way of thinning the herd?

I hope it stays contained because it's the modern day equivalent of the plague that hit Europe all those years ago. The Black Death killed between 75 and 200 million people and the population of the world was much smaller in 1350 (ish).

All in all, the plague reduced the world population from an estimated 450 million down to 350–375 million in the 14th century.
I'm not scared shitless over it though. Not for the time being anyway.

      .
At the time, nobody knew what a germ was..or bacteria...or viruses. Nobody washed their hands, or had antibiotics. It spread because people drank sewage, and threw their garbage in the streets.

Unless you live in a third world country, I wouldn't worry about it.

Anyone with half a brain could have figured it out!!!!!! There were several warning signs that should have been CLEAR, EVEN THEN! Why put up with the smell and vermin ANYWAY?

The plague was NOT because people didn't wash their hands, and antibiotics may not have been 100%, etc... I DOUBT they drank sewage. STILL, EBOLA is WORSE! Antibiotics wouldn't help EBOLA.

But the US and african customs are helping, or will continue to help spread ebola in America and Africa.

Yup, anyone with half a brain....and a time machine to go 600 years into the future, to have the science and technology to figure it out.

It was The Dark Ages. People still thought that disease was spread by a curse, or by not praying hard enough, or because they sinned.

OK, OK, it is spread by a curse! EVEN THE BIBLE NAMES CURSES! BLOODY WATER! LARGE numbers of frogs! LARGE LOCUST populations, etc....

SEE! They KNEW where problems were. BTW someone went down the list and found how some led to others. The frogs, for example, could have formed from a lack of fish, and abundance of locusts, etc... Even the first born could have been from mold in the storehouse. It isn't contagious and the first born would be the one to get supplies and breath in the spores.

                  (From an earlier post.)

1918 saw the worst pandemic in the worlds history.

During 4 years of fighting, World War One claimed 8 1/2 million souls. In only a few months time the inappropriately name Spanish Flu killed 50 million world wide.

An excellent PBS video, Killer Flu.

The video will give you an idea of what we would be up against.

For example, so many people dying that the bodies would be stacked up like cord wood.

Recent medical research is making them question whether the flu was actually the main killer. They had just invented aspirin and people were being told to stay in bed and take aspirin - which made lungs fill with water and degenerated the flu into pneumonia. You NEVER take aspirin and stay in bed - you need to get up and walk to get that crap out of your lungs. A lot of stats on flu deaths now aren't actually flu - they are pneumonia - side effect of flu.

Ebola does burn fast - but if it's got the fuel (as in a big enough city), it can burn a long time. One of the fears about so many illegals crossing the south border is this epidemic.

Hm, and what is the US? It is a third world country as far as education is concerned. In fact it has the worst education system in the world.

You should probably be more worried about mishaps at disease control centers in US.

CDC resumes tuberculosis lab transfers halted after anthrax mishap

Fresh water supply and sewage systems were used five or more thousand years ago in India.
"Nobody knew what a germ was?" That's crap. Don't speak for everybody if you have a limited (high school) knowledge about ancient civilizations.

The worst? That surprised me: my understanding was that education in some middle-eastern countries like Afghanistan left a little to be desired (such as high-schooling for girls).

Actually, In the middle east and some places it has influence in, like the remainder of africa, women are treated only as private property. In the epitome of sharia, they are not to drive, be seen, or go out unescorted by a male. When people are treated in such a way, it is also usually a given that they not be taught past a certain point, if at all.

HECK one thing some crow about, after a war, against those in the M.E., is that schools were started for girls.

And that isn't even all of it. Frankly what shocks me is all the women that, knowing that, and being DIRECTLY affected by it, actually SUPPORT IT.

HN, if that is your real name, I may not be as enlightened and erudite as you, but it appears to me that 'twas you who not compared, but directly stated the US is a third world country, going so far as to say it has, "the worst education system in the world."

Thank the political and social systems for that. People have worked ******hard***** to make it as bad as it is. They are, right now, even as I write this, trying to overhaul everything to make it far worse. But it WAS better.

"Nobody knew what a germ was?" That's crap. Don't speak for everybody if you have a limited (high school) knowledge about ancient civilizations.
Yeah, even when people didn't know intimately how it worked or what it looked like, they knew how it worked.

A little known fact many leave out is that if someone is cursed, you should shun them. You don't want the curse to rub off on you.

          YEAH

A little known fact many leave out is that if someone is sick, you should (probably stay away from) them. You don't want to (get sick).

Funny how that works. Like the guy that realized dead bodies had something that could hurt healthy ones, and proved that washing his hands in an agent, that turned out to be antibacterial, caused survival rates to increase. He didn't know why, he just found it worked.

            Some interesting lists:

The Five Deadliest Outbreaks and Pandemics in History - Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

            10 most deadly epidemics

The Black Death is the one that impressed me as a teen. It was the subject of a book I read and though I forgot the title/author I never forgot the graphic descriptions of the disease. It was Bubonic Plague and occurred sporadically over a period of 300 years before the cause (and prevention) was found.

In some more recent lists that ignore centuries of history - both polio and tuberculosis are listed a pandemics. Both preventable - but only through vaccination.

It was FAR better when it was cheaper, better, and without propaganda. And it really IS getting worse! The plan THIS year "only" destroys a few subjects in a few grades, but it will get WORSE, unless they SCRAP IT! GRANTED, most states eventually "scrapped" it, but they rename it and try to push it through AGAIN!

Supposedly it started based on a kind of lottery where states could win funding from the federal government that comes from TARP! Those states that refuse to destroy their educational system, in this matter, don't get funding. Those that do, MAY.

I could careless about the politics behind our school system, I just know that hundreds of millions of children don't have access to a free education. If every child were permitted or had access to a free education this world would be a much better place.

I agree Claude my concern is just all of the above goes on in parts of the world along with an abundance of ultra cheap air travel, boat travel and illegal people trafficking that no one gets to monitor.

A lot of people there also think it is a curse and not a disease.

I agree though it burns itself out quickly. What did worry me though was a second man was worried he may have it here having returned from an affected country and the doctors decided he didn't need testing. Seeing as the initial symptoms are fairly cold like, I'd just like to see them test anyone that's worried as a precaution.

Also this isn't a third world country but we have people here that still live in the dark ages.

I agree, I'm just saying it's a bit concerning as it's the biggest Ebola outbreak ever recorded and borders are as porous as a bottomless glass over there and of course flights are still operating in and out.

    I think so, yes.

I think that living in North America or Europe, you're somewhere between 100 and 1,000 times as likely to be knocked down in the street by a bus as you are to catch this.

Doctors are telling me that it's terribly difficult to catch. It's contagious rather than infectious, but even as contagious diseases go, it's really hard to catch. It also isn't normally even contagious (let alone infectious) during its incubation-period, so you can't really catch it from "someone who doesn't even know they're sick". (This is one of the "key things" the media often don't tell you! "Epidemics" arise through infection during incubation-periods, and that doesn't happen with Ebola).

We both have bigger and more realistic things to worry about than this, Steven.

Yeah, we can hope. It doesn't look to be in south america, but if it is, it will probably soon get here. There is apparently a common african ceremony of having the recently dead kind of open for viewing, etc... and it apparently spreads the sickness. And it IS common there. as for not knowing you are sick? What does THAT mean? Does it mean not knowing it is ebola? CAN'T be! Africans catch it, without knowing! Does it mean not knowing that it is DEFINITELY a sickness? CAN'T be! OK, is it the symptoms you would likely associate with an illness(that MANY have on a daily basis)? Is it the soreness MANY have?

Not being able to catch it from someone that doesn't think they are sick doesn't make me feel any better. It starts out SLOW! An area might not know they have ebola until some people start DYING.

I think the fear of ebola in the US is being fanned by the media and approved of by some in government.

As we focus on worry of a disease in Africa - illegal immigrants are being released into towns across the country without health screening. Only a small number are being tested and vaccinated and a border agent said in one facility alone there were cases of measles, mumps, chicken pox and other viral and bacterial infections. He said in other holding facilities, there are no medical tests done.

These kids are entering our schools next month (each with an interpreter we pay for) - and will be in rooms/dining halls/restrooms/playgrounds with kids who may not have been properly vaccinated by parents with irrational fears of vaccines.

Recently we've learned some vaccines wear off after 15-20 years so many adults in this country may not be protected....yet a border agent said 85% of the people flooding across the border are being released into this country.

As long as we quiver in fear over the minuscule potential of cases of ebola here - we don't look closely at what goes on right under our noses.

Yeah, and they have a MEDIA BLACKOUT on legitimate reporting of their health status.

IRONIC that you can conceivably die of dehydration because you drank water!

Apparently, there is *****NO***** vaccine against EBOLA. As for other diseases? Some of the aliens have LICE. They may even have mites and ticks with who knows what.

Recently we've learned some vaccines wear off after 15-20 years so many adults in this country may not be protected....yet a border agent said 85% of the people flooding across the border are being released into this country.

Yeah, there are potential health disasters in some STATES in the US! LUCKILY, we have treatments for MOST. STILL, if you get stung by a scorpion from arizona, and are in Maine, you may DIE because it could take them a while to find out the problem, and antivenom might not be available soon enough. If the vector is from another COUNTRY, your chances of dying may increase.

One reason for ellis island, which was were LEGAL immigrants once went through, was to ensure a person likely didn't have such diseases. They can NOT do that in the lower 48 because, by the time they determine you are infected, THOUSANDS in the US may already have been exposed.

Of course, health is better now, in many countries, etc... STILL, in mexico, even the WATER isn't very clean. There is a disease that people there have antibodies to, but people in the US don't. It has been nicknamed montezumas revenge. Traveler's diarrhea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia LUCKILY. it is usually just a major inconvenience though I believe some HAVE died from the ordeal.

True - but we are also protected in a way as legal immigrants must provide documentation of health and vaccinations before coming into the country.

Scrambling across the border is a different story. There are negotiations (it's reported on the news) to build an immigrant center in Texas for millions of dollars. Some in Texas are asking "why not use many of the empty buildings here instead?". One said the buildings are empty because the neighborhoods near the border have become so dangerous businesses have moved.

We need to start looking at the problems at our FEET instead of following the path of "worry" that media/govt wants to lay out for us. It's misdirection nd little more than that.

A news anchor in Texas reported yesterday the ratio of caretakers/agents to illegal kids is 1 to 8. If we had that teacher/student ratio in our classrooms...how great would that be????

P.S. The good thing about ebola...is doctors say it is not contagious during the long incubation phase. It only becomes contagious when symptoms appear.

Steve, The Hot ZoneThe Hot Zone (not an affiliate link) came out almost 20 years ago now. I went through a phase studying diseases as my spare time learning, after I did Chaos theory, in college and it was a new release then. Now THIS is a scary book. But two decades on and we're not dead yet.

The world is always has a plague gun held to its head. A killer virus could pop out from China or Africa or the wild forests of Indonesia at any time, get on a plane and head over here. That's what the CDC is there to protect us from.

I find this is kind of like air travel, which I have a problem with: we can either sit there and be paralyzed in worry about it, or we can accept the risk and move on. Unless you want to become a scientist and focus on finding source and cure, it's a waste of time and energy.

I find worrying about the eventual deaths of people and animals I love from natural causes a far bigger sad question in the middle of the night. And that, too, is a waste because there's not a darn thing I can do about it.

      No, indeed.

And only half of the things that Bill Gates said 25 years ago would all have happened within 10 years have actually happened, because things are always much slower-moving than is initially believed. (Especially where computers and the internet are concerned: developments, contrary to popular belief, are really slow.)

Ebola won't be the one to finish us off.

      No way.

And as discussed above, it isn't even contagious (let alone infectious) in its incubation-phase, so it isn't even much of a candidate at all for a "proper epidemic", in the West.

In my opinion far more common, less serious, and "non-scary" bacteria (not viruses) are overwhelmingly more likely eventually to finish us off, by developing nasty antibiotic-resistant strains in response to the overprescription of antibiotics. "MRSA" is just the beginning. I'm just saying ...

Yeah, Ebola is its own worst enemy. It kills so fast and effectively, the breakout doesn't last long and can't spread too far.

        Yum!

For anyone reading who really likes to be scared by real things, The Hot Zone and Into Thin Air (about a 90s Everest climbing disaster) are two awesome books. They both have that Breaking Bad "This can't possibly get any worse--oh no, another level of Bad just opened up" thing going on.

It may kill quickly once it gets to the last symptoms, but apparently it doesn't kill quickly. Apparently, it can take almost a MONTH!!!!! It generally takes a while to really feel anything, and it is mild. Not much worse than a cold. THEN it starts destroying some organs and then causes a bleeding disorder and then you are generally as good as dead.

I think I'd be more worried about someone digging up a bacteria that has been dormant for a million years, and there is no built up immunity.

But I never think about it. If the zombies attack, my wife and I will be the first ones eaten. Especially me...because I'm more scrumptious.

I definitely did not. The word was repeated for emphasis, Claude. Notice the short sentences also that could have been combined into a longer smoother statement? It's called a stylistic device.

So happened that this particular worry was the one that hit me last night as I had the fourth "lousy attempt at sleeping night" in a row. IDK why I'm having this problem...got nothing at all pressing to worry about these days.

Poorly executed attempt to pass the Claude virus to the unsuspecting. It's terribly contagious and miserable, but not deadly.

What I find scary about ebola is that it's airborne rather than human spread.

Others will die a slow painful death..... whether it be cancer or Ebola...

This is not the first time there has been an Ebola outbreak in Africa. It has happened in even in unstable countries like Zaire (Congo DRC) and has been contained. Two months from now you won't hear of it.

Ebola virus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

"Human-to-human transmission occurs via direct contact with blood or bodily fluids from an infected person (including embalming of an infected dead person) or by contact with contaminated medical equipment, particularly needles and syringes. Medical workers who do not wear protective clothing, such as gloves and surgical masks, may also contract the disease."

HN - I am a degreed Sociolinguist. I will tell you right now that you do not "know" 53 languages. Such an acquisition is unheard of.

I can tear apart and delineate the morphology of any written language in the world - that doesn't mean I "know" the language. I know others so intelligent that they can't be measured.....and never met anyone or heard of anyone that "knows" more than 12 languages - and "know" is a little liberal a description for some levels of knowledge.

Second - the US is ranked 37 for education. What Kaku was specifically talking about was science education. We have had a staggeringly low interest amongst our people in getting science degrees. This is the fault more of social indoctrination than anything else. Unfortunately, our schools now are collapsing because social indoctrination is becoming the foremost concern of the schools rather than learning. Our schools will sink further if the situation isn't curtailed and reversed, but we're not there yet. We have a whole generation of indoctrinated, consumerized idiots coming up, however, that will not be able to make grades in colleges unless curriculums are weakened so your statement, while not true at the moment, is somewhat prophetic.

If we are able to bust the fascist hold on this country within the next generation, though, I believe you will see a force stronger that you would ever imagine from this country's educational systems. Sometimes you have to lose something to realize how important it was. We have time to put it back.

Also - Kaku was fairly well right, but a little ethnocentric in his statement, too. I know many off the charts intelligent, American educated Americans. They were educated before the gov grab of the ed system, mostly though - just as the HNs that Kaku speaks of.

What is happening here happens in any society that is grabbed by fascism. Do not be glib or rejoice in America's fall. Every country that falls to fascism creates global danger for everyone else. This is what I was saying about Ebola after a bit of research --
We will have at least a small ebola crisis, because Monsanto now owns part of the new drug to fight it - and Monsanto, after Wolrd Bank, is one of the main owners of US.Inc.

You have my permission to use me for a human shield as long as we are fighting a word war. When bullets and blades, etc become the weapons.......you are on your own.

Okay - what our wonderful bought and paid off media is not telling us is that this Ebola virus is 3% divergent from the actual Zaire Virus. As of yet they are not naming it differently, but there is a morph away from the original virus. At this link the actual divergent sequences are charted:
        MMS: Error

The danger is that they now know that Ebola is somewhat airborne. By somewhat, I mean they are not sure whether it needs liquid to survive and for how long. If a droplet of liquid is needed to transmit the disease, it can't go very far, but it can infect anyone who gets near the infected person - no need to touch or contact shedding bodily fluids. If they find it can live for a period without the liquid host, we could be in real jeopardy with this one as it will be able to spread further and infect more people fairly rapidly.

Also - since the virus has already morphed, and the infections are being considered "uncontrollable" in some areas, we have no way of knowing if any further morphing will turn it into a fully airborne monster.

This strain of Ebola has shown in research to be between 30% and 90% fatal, depending on variables and species. It can be passed between species.

That's what I have on it for now from authorities. I would think if this one is frightening to you, you should be following CDC information about the virus instead of listening to our corporate news systems here in the US. They don't seem to be able to handle correct information - whether not allowed or just too stupid and incompetent. It only takes a few clicks to find credible data. They (news media) should be embarrassed. Since disinformation in this matter could be deadly to many, they should be arrested.

If what i have learnt here Ebola Facts is anything to go by, i don't feel threaten by the disease.

It's really simpler than the news had made it look.

If it ever gets out of hand, government should declare a 30 days sit at home for everyone
and hand out emergency lines and only permit health workers to respond to cases and emergency until everyone is certified clean.

I just watched my best friend die from brain cancer. It took two years and two months and what it did to her body was sickening. Her last six weeks were spent bouncing in and out of hospitals while her organs shut down. Her last week was spent in a coma where she struggled for every breath. I sat there holding her hand for many hours talking to her and hoping she could hear me.

I'm not afraid of Ebola but I am terrified of cancer.

Ebola has been around for years and its a serious threat to humanity because there is no such deadly virus like it. Once it infects you, you are going to die (it has a mortality rate of 90%!) or if you survive left to be seriously damaged and expect some or most vital organs of your body to be messed up.

Yes, you should be worried. I am scared shitless of it honestly and i am studying microbiology so i know about it a lot more than average folks and the hysteria that is spread around it is NOT like the seasonal flu which doesn't kill that many people but still make headlines.

The only reason this virus has been contained and hasn't spread so much is because it kills its victim before he can spread it!. It doesn't give its victim a chance to even move but if it were to spread, it has the potential to kill all of humanity, not just some percent of humanity, all of them. The only ones left surviving would be seriously so messed up that their quality of life would be worse than a 100 year old person and you would beg for death. Interesting thing is the human immune system actually develops some immunity but by the time it does that your whole body has been shred apart that you die from that and also the virus mutates a lot so that also makes things difficult. Its pretty much a death sentence.

It pisses me off how much easier it is for the patients to travel, they shouldn't be allowed to and there should be stricter checks at airports. If it was up to me, i would kill those patients because they are going to die anyway and it would be a mercy for them, not many would agree with me but those who actually know about the virus would seriously agree with me. It will be for the greater good of humanity and we may actually be able to make the virus go extinct.

It requires the most highest level laboratory level for research purposes i.e BSL-4 (only just a few in the world) and proper Hazmat suites to even handle the virus for research. Watch the movie Contagion which is based on a different virus but really interesting movie to show how deadly virus like this can be, the current outbreak doesn't spread by aerosal route (like flu) but outbreaks in past have spread through air and wreaked havoc.

This and the few other viruses are the only reason i haven't and will never go to Africa, that place is the home to most scariest diseases humans have known.

This particular strain has a 50% death rate - so you would murder the other 50% because of your own fear? Would that make you totally safe? No - life is never safe and always time limited.

I think you landed in the wrong century - would have been comfortable in Salem during the witch trials.

What if ebola and similar incurable diseases are nature's way of thinning the herd?

Its just a matter of one simple mutation to make the 50% to a 100%. And you are forgetting that 50% doesn't actually truly translates to a 50/50 chance because there are other factors that comes into play where a person who may have a chance of living ends up dying. Do you feel safe getting infected with a disease where you have a 50% chance of surviving ? Nope...the flu that makes the headlines each year don't even have a 5% mortality rate yet people get scared shitless and people die...in an ideal world that 50% chance may translate to truly be 50% but this is not an ideal world.

This particular strain also doesn't spread through air because of the mutations that happened but that doesn't make it any less dangerous. And this virus is mutating inside each of its victim, with just the right amount of victims it can become far more dangerous than it already is, like i said it hasn't spread like any other virus does because it kills its victims...if it had victims the same amount that a common flu does i am scared to imagine what may happen when its so deadly on its own.

Nature has its own ways of thinning the herd but this outbreak spreading to other countries is human's fault.

Its not my own fear, you just don't know it like i do (its because of what i study) and i don't imagine you ever will unless you study about it or someone close to you falls victim to it (i hope to God that doesn't happen).

        Some cold hard facts

"Until the development of agriculture around the 11th millennium BC, it is estimated that the world population stabilized at about three million people" That was as high as it could go.

Bring in a Agriculture and much later mechanization, sanitation, the beginnings of modern medicine etc by 1850 the worlds population rose to 1.2 billion.

1927 2 billion Took 77 years to nearly double
1950 2.55 billion. War had interrupted so not a mega change.

Then jump to the present day we are at: 7 billion plus. Exponential growth. Some periods of prosperity after the rebuilding when WW2 was finished.

But now, Earth's showing signs of the strain of supporting that many humans and their consumption and pollution.

Concentrated population areas and world travel is not good for spreading viruses either.

Putting all emotions aside and the losing of the benefits of what we enjoy currently based on the technology to produce and distribute food it does not appear to be sustainable as is for that many people and the planet.

Sad to say, but the human race is the spreading virus that is destroys the planet. So, perhaps a virus will eventually destroy us or at least reduce our numbers down greatly.

A natural mechanism of an eco system perhaps in the same way that animals of different types keep each others numbers down. Predators and prey leads to balance.

          My friend.

Your facts are right, as far as I know. And your post is reasoned well..again, as far as I can tell.

But this isn't a predator-prey situation. And it isn't nature's way to thin the herd (not that you said that). There is no imbalance in population. We are the Alpha Predator. We feed on everything else. Every other species fills niches. We have no niche. But I agree that we are like a virus on the planet. We consume more than we give back. Especially here in the US.

Although, our ability to travel internationally may present a slight opening for a disease to spread. And concentrations of population aid in disease spreading.

But we still have incredible methods to isolate exposure, treat victims, and contain the spread. It's a deadly disease, but one of the least spreadable.

Unless you live in a dirt floored hut, with 15 other people....I wouldn't worry too much about ebola.

I mean, I'm not worried. And neither are any of the other 15 voices in my head.

The reason why it is so lethal is that it is ill adapted to humans. It will become less lethal if it spreads more efficiently. The poor sanitary conditions in Africa plays a big role in the spread. The chances of it spreading in developed countries that are well prepared are extremely slim. Moreover, contingency plans are in place all over the world now for this virus.

You are right, we have no animal predators to keep our numbers down. The Earth, the Solar System, the Universe and the fabric, conditions and nature of life itself are our only predators and I think it is fair and valid to consider looking at it this way.

Then we must consider the nature of the human beast, ourselves, our arrogance, attitudes, our experimentation with nature, not a bad thing but we can make mistakes and unleash substances and viruses of our own making.

With all our division though it would take a common enemy or thing to unite us, their is the Earth itself that should be doing this but unless it's an immediate threat most people tend to ignore it.

Interesting reading and a documentary recently about some of the asian countries like Japan having an aging population and some towns that have become ghost towns due to people not wanting to go through the expense and hassle of having relationships and children.

Cybersex on the internet with their super fast connections, virtual girlfriends and fantasy partners is having an effect on human reproduction over there. It is beginning to fulfill their sexual needs.

Even on this very forum, you see connections between people being forged, people who may never meet but it dispels some of the loneliness in their lives by having someone (or multiple people) of like mindedness to talk too as well as people to argue with. :-)

This has been my thought for quite a while. Just toooooo many humans!

Ebola... End of the world? No. Worth keeping a watchful eye on? Certainly.

Okay, so what do you all think? Are we doomed? Am I worrying for nothing?

    Discuss.
Here's how I feel about it:

Afraid of catching diseases ? - stay indoors - don't ever go out, and if you do, wear a mask, and wash your hands 1,000,000 times a day with anti-bacterial soap.

    Or...

live your life fearlessly and stop watching the news because it's all doom and gloom anyways.

    Your choice.

yes, I think you are worrying too much, Steven

That is why he will never die from a virus or disease.

Honestly, I'd be more worried about a rat or bat stowaway on a barge, than two Americans in quarantine.
