You're getting way ahead of yourself and you do have a lot of nerve.

There's no way to prove it but I'd bet that those classical greats would like Mike's music very much.

        I await your reply.

        You know what?

I grew up in a classical home with two classically trained musicians as
parents. I probably have more knowledge of classical music in my pinky
than you have in your whole body.

But what I hate, more than anything, is pompous asses such as yourself
who look down at anything that they don't approve of as being "worthy".

You are the kind of person that gives appreciation of the arts a very bad
name and my mother, God rest her soul, a classical concert pianist and
opera singer, would be ashamed to be associated with a bigot like you.

        LOL

OMG there are people who really think like this??? I thought these kinds of thoughts were for fictional characters on TV Shows like Fraser. Wow...

There are many musical genres - and the power and quality of music is completely subjective. There is no objective way to classify what genre of music is more worthy than the next.

I have no doubt that they would love it and want some of that electricity themselves.

I see that -first- you are taken by the MSM Michael Jackson hysteria and -second- you don't know what MUSIC is all about.

How dare you compare Michael Jackson (I would rather say Quincy Jones as Jackson's STUFF would be nothing without Quincy Jones) with -for example- J.S. Bach's Art of the Fugue, Partitas or Cantatas?

        The J.S. Bach Home Page

I can assure you that your drugged out pervert pedophile Michael Jackson's "music" will NOT stand the test of TIME.

YouTube - Jackson dangles baby out window

Wonder what kind of freak show the funeral is going to be....pyramid, rocket shoot casket into space, stalin type wax figure...

I just KNEW this one would go through the roof - sure speaks volumes about the priorities of a lot of folks on here, I mean, who the hell cares that this sick old freakshow kicked the bucket? I sure as hell don't - what I care about is all of those decent, good folks who are being murdered anc raped anc terrorized every day and no-one hardly ever gets to hear about it, why? Because the MSM decided that's something we don't need to be bothering ourselves about but hey, some overrated pedo freak (and probable convert to Islam) snuffs it an' suddenly there's this crazy outpouring of grief from all of those deluded saddos who seem to view him as some sort of God!

We get it, you don't like anything about the dude - wonderful.

What we have here is a cultural difference.

About Mike's music standing the test of time...

If America is here 1000 years into the future, it will.

And we're talking about the music not the dude's messed up personal life.

I'm 100% sure those classical greats would appreciate good music when the hear it.

My Itunes collection of classical music is at least 50 songs.

Your arrogance is silly and beyond unreasonable and music is much like beauty, it's in the hears of the beholder.

          What's next for you?

          You walk better than me?

Your hair is better than someone's who's hair is different.

          TL

Ps. One last thing, If the young of the world ( and young people of the classical era ) had their choice, between classical music and Mike, who do you think would win?

And, I'm still not saying classic American pop music is better than traditional European music
          it's just different.

In the military, people get promoted a rank or two when they
    die on duty.

Now, when Michael has passed on, the world "promotes" him by
playing back his music again and again.

I see it as a celebration of his life's contribution to the world,
    to music, to everyone.

Everyone has their personal preferences - who am I to criticise someone elses taste? My husband loves the punk era, I absolutely loathe it, and he dislikes alot of my favourite music - we just beg to differ (we are a year apart in age). I was brought up on The Beatles, 70's were my era, so I will always love glam rock. Michael Jackson was just so incredibly talented, whatever else you may have thought about him, and I think it will be along time until we see someone who has such an impact on today's music.

Having gone through Chris Anderson's "The Long Tail" and how
he uses a lot of references to music, I seriously doubt ANYONE
will EVER make the kind of impact he has.

We are now in a world where niches take large bites of the pie
and to grab such a large piece of it, is already impossible.

Yes, I do. But then again, I have a very extensive music collection period
having been involved in the industry itself for over 30 years.

It's been a while since his songs were given great attention. Now's the chance to reminisce MJ's great skills in music.

What a pathetic and intollerant exhibition in this stream.

A man is dead. He was a great performer for many people (not for myself). He brought a style of music that awakened the interest in many who had previously had no appreciation for any sort of music.

NOBODY has the right to display the level of ignorance that has been displayed in some of the posts here. NOBODY has the right to set themselves up as arbiters of taste. NOBODY has the right to say that millions of people are being stupid in their reaction to a premature death.

Personally I have not heard a single MJ piece since he died - I have that wonderful piece of technology called the 'off' switch which I use in conjunction with a 'tuner'.

It is clear to me that millions of his fans have been deeply affected by his death and, while I do not appreciate his music or style, I have to accept that I might have missed out on something even though I doubt it.

You might not like what I say - but I believe it.
Build it, make money, then build some more
Some old school smarts would help - and here's to Rob Toth for his help. Bloody good stuff, even the freebies!

Although I was not exactly one of his loyal fans, I really did appreciate his music and hip style while growing up in the 80's. What kid didn't try the moonwalk at least once or twice? He was larger than life back then. His personal life aside, he was a great artist.
