What College Should I Go To?

by 1337Teh 15 replies
Well i have only 15 days to choose my life profession. I am really stuck at this point, i don't know what school to go to.

First i was thinking architecture but it's very time consuming and i won't have time to do Internet marketing. Another thing i was thinking was IT but i am not sure since it's not easy to find jobs with IT where i live.

Suggest me something please!

I can't tell you where to go or what to do. I can tell you that I recently read an article on professional careers on the decline and one of them was architects. The job prospects, according to the article, over the next 20-30 years are not good. I'd do a little research, if I were you.

Thanks a lot! What about IT? Does it have a good future?

Obviously, to some degree it DOES. But they are destroying the whole idea through micromanaging. I SWEAR, you have something to do and have to wait for someone ELSE to create the tables, and someone ELSE to import the tables and even when it comes time to test, someone ELSE runs whatever. You know what they say about too many cooks! When I started, I did ALL that. For the moment, all are getting paid well, but one wonders where it is going.

As for healthcare, that some say is doing well, I wonder where THAT is going. I wouldn't want to be involved with much of it anyway.

I think you're safe there, but it probably depends on your area of concentration.

        Google:

        careers on the rise

        (no quotes)

You'll get more information than you care to read.

Data techs and system maintenance/repair areas are alway hiring out here in OR - we have google data centers, facebook data centers, etc so on. What it will look like in a few years, I couldn't tell you, but right now the only decent jobs ever listed are in IT.

Well, I must say it. I just have to.

You say, I only have 15 days to choose my life profession, and you're asking complete strangers to decide your future? And in the OT section?

You're very brave. I'll give you that. But, may I recommend that you do some soul searching and discover a life's passion or even an area that you are apt in?

It just seems to me that if you get schooling in an area that someone you don't even know selected for you that you will just continue to flounder in life. And that's not to mention how much money you have the potential to waste if what we choose isn't really suited for you.

No one knows you, better than you.

Get to searching yourself pronto, you still have a couple of weeks to discover and decide.

You'll never see an unemployed barber, especially in a crappy economy when everyone else is going to 57 job interviews. Plus you can't outsource hair cuts to a 3rd world country, ha, ha... not that they didn't try (Flowbee).

Why the hell would you come on a forum and ask random strangers what college to go to, and what classes to take? My daughter starts college this fall, and I would be fuming if I saw her do something like this. I can see you are not taking your future serious, so there is a good chance you will end up dropping out. This is a serious discussion you should be having with family and friends, not some internet marketing forum.
