A blogger and social media specialist for an English language training center was fired for writing about homophones, words that sound the same but have different meanings (e.g. be and bee).

The blogger said the guy who fired him didn't want the school associated with homosexuality.

I wonder where THEY were "educated". Ideally, the US should be a stable. improving, and shining example of a well educated society with schools that only have people that are at least US highschool graduates that have an education generally at least commensurate to that of the students. But it isn't, so I am left wondering.

I suspect this is the best thing that's happened to the teacher. The compensation he'll get when this goes to court will provide for a wonderful holiday and a great thing to pop on his CV.

Try using the word 'niggardly' in a sentence and see where that gets you. I made that mistake in a forum post, once - and am still branded as a racist by some the members, there. lol

Frank; It could have been worse. You could have been branded a "racist with limited acting skills".

I was in an organic foods store, and the young guy behind the counter told me a price. I said "Can we dicker over it?" He assumed it meant something...bad.

And he was very...very upset. I tried to explain what it meant, but the damage was done. I just walked out.

Mind you, I wouldn't be surprised and if you're right, more proof you can't trust the media to accurately report anything.

EDIT. Reading the Mail article it does say and quote from Joe's Sal;t Lake Tribune link too.
I'm confused. What does the head of an uncircumcised penis peaking out of it's foreskin have to do with anything?

Yeah, our declining education system is killing us. And it doesn't help that some leaders are anti-science and anti-technology. Please.

You've been hoodwinked, that article is keyword stuffed over optimized spam. They have a single page with five followed keyword stuffed backlinks pointing at homophone[.]com.

    Welcome to $5 backlinks.

Seems to me what the head of the school is saying is a bit odd. He is rationalizing his action rather than admit he didn't know what the word meant.

Then he goes on to say the school is for those new to English - so I guess the message is "we teach English but not very much of it"?
