Sorry for any inconvenience there but apparently the sea is absorbing some of the heat at the moment but it is just a temporary natural cycle and the full brunt of runaway global warming will resume big time by 2025.

BBC News - Global warming slowdown 'could last another decade'

In the meantime the OT forum will remain cool with sunny intervals.

And here I was going to open a nice ice house! We were going to stay open from 8-12, and call it 812!!!!!

We were going to make a KILLING! What am I going to do with ALL THAT ICE!?!?!?!?!?

    Steve

I forgot to mention about the inside joke. LONG ago, there was an icestore that opened from 7-11. They are now 24 hours and, though they are now a convenience store, they still make it known they sell ice. THEIR name is 7-11.But HEY, the courts told intel that you can't trademark numbers. THEY were upset that all their competitors named workalikes with 386 or 486 in the name, tried to sue, and NOW NAME their processors, like pentium, atom, etc... although the i3-i7 seem problematic there!

All your assets will be frozen till 2025 at which time you will have a slush fund which will quickly be converted into liquid assets.

      The future looks bright.

Ok, so we can get a break from the "World will end, by 2100" for at least 10 more years!

Unless the scientists have screwed up again?

2000 metres, or about 1.2 Miles, not really a conclusive result to bias a sure thing concept on.

They did say deepest parts of the ocean, which is about 7 to 8 miles deep!

So, still looks dodgy! Just trying to save face, to make a quick buck!

          Nothing new here!

WOW! They didn't know all this?

The hiatus in the rise in global temperatures could last for another 10 years, according to new research.

Scientists have struggled to explain the so-called pause that began in 1999, despite ever increasing levels of CO2 in the atmosphere.

The latest theory says that a naturally occurring 30-year cycle in the Atlantic Ocean is behind the slowdown.

The researchers says this slow-moving current could continue to divert heat into the deep seas for another decade.

However, they caution that global temperatures are likely to increase rapidly when the cycle flips to a warmer phase.

The Pacific is a symptom of the hiatus but not the ultimate cause. The Atlantic is the driver”

    Prof Ka-Kit Tung

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), global average temperatures have increased by around 0.05C per decade in the period between 1998 and 2012.
2012-1999=14 .05 per decade. 14/10(decade)=1.4*.05=0.07=0.126F WOW that is hot! If you take a tilapia that is a degree above its minimum temperature, and lower it 0.126F, it could get a little chilly, I guess. If we had what I considered perfect weather, and it increased by 0.126F every decade, I could live a long happy life before I broke a sweat. OH YEAH, this is for 1.4 decades!

WOW! All this talk, is about such a tiny amount! This is about as long as al gore was really talking about it, right? Maybe releasing all HIS #$%^&* cooled down the world!

Despite my disbelief about global warming, I'm doing what I can for recycling now, along with energy conservation. We're ruining this planet with pollution, no doubt about it. For now on I'll find talking points on which I can agree on, rather than the disagreements. The good people of the OT forum taught me that

      Here's the big question:

WHICH politician is going to step forward and say "See, I've slowed global warming"???

Won't this play havoc with all the carbon and other taxes we "need right now to slow global warming"?

January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

I would NOT put it past ANY of them!

NO WAY! They will INSIST that they are right! I wish I could remember who it was, but one "journalist", after hearing one guy say the OBVIOUS, asked what they always do: "And where did YOU get your economics degree?", and he said "HARVARD". She didn't care.

But these things happen in cycles? WHO KNEW!?!?!?!? I mean I knew they setup school days for it, and they have the ephemeris, and the farmers almanac, and they have watches, and there is day and night. But WHO KNEW that they had winter, summer, autumn, fall, etc?

What I thought was interesting is the scientists are saying they are struggling to understand it, it's just a theory, but temps will raise in 10 years. So basically they are admitting they don't have a clue as to what's going on.
