OK, I have mentioned this before, but they are AT IT AGAIN!

For those that don't know, the internet started as a CONCEPT! There were only a few sites that had ANYTHING to do with ANY government, let alone the US. TODAY, the internet only has the FOLLOWING ties to the US government:

1. The backbone is mostly facilitated by phone companies that are regulated as Public Utilities by the US Government body called the P.U.C(Public Utility Commission)
2. IANA, a government body, leases IP addresses to the main providers. With IPv6, there has been a rumor that this will be effectively unnecessary
3. The DNS servers are served by a subsidiary of a PRIVATE corporation LICENSED by ICANN, which is a government body.

Whether you go to google, amazon, cnn, yahoo, microsoft, etc... You are going to PRIVATE servers that PAID for the IP addresses and the bandwidth and connections, etc... Some may have *******NOTHING******* to do with IANA for DECADES! Dealing with ICANN can now be limited to once a decade. IANA is through the provider so, if you lease a server, THEY give you an IP they got from someone else that may have gotten it from someone else, etc... and you may go a dozen levels deep before someone leased it from IANA. For ICANN, a company like godaddy is 1st tier so they buy it from another company that pays ICANN.

Anyway, the government is fishing for control and taxes! And SO, PLEASE SIGN:

Do Not Regulate the Internet | Don't Regulate the Internet
