Joan has passed at age 81, she was loved by many. It's been a tough summer on the comedy greats.

Rest in peace...

    Oh wow. That is shocking.

Of all Joan's achievements in her life she did meet one goal I have - to still be looking good when she checked out -

RIP Queen of Snark and Cosmetic Procedures!

"Rivers was the first to mock her facelifts and other plastic surgeries. Her grandson "calls me Nana New Face. And when he was younger, the joke was he had never seen me without bandages. So one time, we saw 'The Return of the Mummy,' and he ran to the TV set and he went, 'Grandma, Grandma.''

      Thats too bad.

I never cared much for her Comedy but I always admired her Drive and tenacity especially in the light of an industry that has been dominated by males.

      She was a true trailblazer.

Same here. For some reason, I could watch her do an hour of stand up, and laugh just a few times.

But I saw a special on her a year or so ago, Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work, and was impressed by her work ethic, and drive.

RIP indeed. And just because of an issue in a surgical procedure.

In all due respect, I was a little surprised her Passing was the very first thing mentioned on ABC Evening News last night and it was a pretty extensive piece.

I didn't realize her influence was to that degree. ( I thought maybe Maya Angelou would have had a intro. piece on her when she passed as well )

Heck my Passing would would be lucky to make my Kindergarteners school newsletter .

      And probably rightfully so

I heard a similar comment on the news today and I don't agree with it. She was 81 years old - no surgery is safe or routine at 81.

The assumption seems to be that had she not had this surgery she would not have died. Until the autopsy is completed and the investigation into the surgery is complete - we don't know that.

Dear April: I don't want any trouble from you.
January was long, February was iffy, March was a freaking dumpster fire.
So sit down, be quiet, and don't touch anything.

No surgery is safe at any age, but it's rare that the actual procedure is what kills you. It's usually complications from being administered anesthesia.

According to a CNN source, the procedure that killed Joan was unauthorized. It's also being reported that Joan's personal doctor took a selfie of herself with Joan in the background while she was under anesthesia.

Investigators believe that Rivers' vocal chords began to swell during the allegedly unauthorized biopsy, cutting off the flow of oxygen to her lungs, which led to cardiac arrest on the morning of August 29, the source said.

I personally did not care for her brand of humor at all, but the doctor there has been fired and then there's this

Joan Rivers death: Biopsy doctor 'took SELFIE with star while she was under anesthesia moments before cardiac arrest'

    Joan Rivers death: Biopsy doctor

How professional. They're still investigating, but I suspect there will be a huge lawsuit over this.

mid-2014 has been cruel to many comedians. This is no joking matter. That doctor doesn't know what he's doing, thinking he's got the last laugh. I don't think so.

though I didn't particularly like her, I still respected her work ethic, her business sense, and that she could hold her own in any given situation. RIP Ms. Rivers!

The selfie-taking doctor - I have no respect for. What kind of doctor does that?
I think getting fired is going to be the least of this doctor's troubles. I too sense a huge lawsuit is going to be launched.
