Are we Newbie Friendly?

A lot of warriors are producing newbie friendly stuff, that's great.

But they assume new warriors understand the jargon--they don't and probably too embarrassed to ask, so some just leave.

for example what is CPM PPC CPA PLR CPL SEO SEM etc why use these terms for newbies?

or could we have a jargon buster for newbies?

new warriors are the bread and butter for training

regards

All the newbie has to do is enter the term in google - or look up one of the many free "online jargon" dictionaries.

This forum cannot be all things to all people - and even newbies must take some initiative to learn what they need to know. People can tell you WHAT to do with SEO - but surely you can spend 30 seconds looking up what SEO is.

Lately I've noticed a tendency by new people to ask very simple questions and then just sit and wait to be told what to do. That's not good enough - you have to participate in YOUR learning curve.

If new members aren't pro-active - they won't get through the learning curve.

I can only speak for myself, but when I was a complete newbie here, everyone was extremely friendly (with an exceptional token few) and that's why I've stuck around.

Yep , and I can spend a big whooping five seconds to write out what SEO is . Search.. Engine.. Optimization.

Oh my bad it took 6.4 seconds to type

Funny, I have no probelm in taking the time to discuss the 'rudiments' of IM with any newbie. I was there, I know what it is like.

It just has never bothered me in the least to be honest.

I enjoy it. Sure they can go and Wikipedia everything but why when they can come ask me ?

It make take you only a few seconds to type the response, but it could take the noob hours or even days to get a response.

I've been teaching IM for a pretty long time. If I could pick one thing that sets apart the people that made money and those that didn't, it would probably be those that take the initiative to find answers on their own, vs. those that had to ask me questions that they could have very easily answered for themselves with a basic 30 second search.

I believe those that take matters into their own hands are far more successful than those that don't. I'd even bet a coke on it.

And this is a major issue...for experienced marketers. Why does every conversation have to be reduced to the lowest common demoninator?

Many of us have over a decade of experience and would enjoy more advanced discussions and not have to take the time to define every term we use.

This doesn't mean that newbies don't need or deserve help. It simply means that for many of us, it gets really boring not being able to advance beyond the basics and it seems as if we're stuck in the IM version of "Groundhog Day".

I think that the forum caters for everyone. There are plenty of advanced chats and loads of newbie ones as well. Some are by "ignorant" people. I use this term because they want to be spoon-fed and I have little tolerance for them. Then there are the genuine newbies who simply want a little guidance, and they're the ones we can help.

Maybe we do need a section devoted to newbies and their questions?

We have one - it's called the Main Forum.

Hmmmmm Maybe... BUT if we have one specifically named NEWBIES or something like it, that might help? Am I wrong?

On one hand it does seem like a good idea. And yet, I can't help but think it also seems a little like herding wild buffalo into a box canyon for slaughter.

I think you have an excellent point. And actually it could be a solution in relation to all the moaners who get tired of the same incessant questions.

This way the people who are tired of seeing these rudimentary questions would not have to step foot in this 'Newbie' section because they know what is in there

I think most of the members of this forum are newbie friendly. They always try to help new members. It is a good sign for all of us. It is true that sometimes it becomes difficult for new member to understand such term like PPC, CPA, and SME etc. So we need to use the elaboration of those terms.

    I agree with you!!

I see that a lot of 'gurus' and leaders online are not too newbie friendly with their trainings.

I think we can be a lot more newbie friendly and actually care about them a lot more.

    It's a great topic!

I wish you the best of the best!

    Cheers!
