How do I find clients

Now, that I finally about to start this cold calling thing, I was having some trouble in finding clients. My problem is that I have no money and can't invest in a list or a monthly fee for a site.

You can get unlimited numbers to call for $50 a month at infofree.com. You can build lists based on the type of client you are going after.

The phone book is free and has every businesses within 25 miles of you. What do you think people have been using for decades to cold call from?

I think it is my turn to be the bad guy...

Sure you are short on funds and apparently short on some other things. The only thing holding you back from "Finding" work right now is yourself. Why not try the Yellow Pages? or even the Yellow Pages online?

How about getting a copy of the local paper. Locate each and every ad in the paper and track down those companies that are spending money in advertising there and do not have websites ( you will be surprised how many don't )

There are COUNTLESS methods to finding work. As it stands right now you don't want to walk to the closest business district. You cant afford to buy a list. and now you don't know where to look. How many more excuses are there going to be before you actually start motivating and actually moving forward with this little idea you have in your head to making easy money?

I will tell you right now the path is NOT easy, and you are only making it harder on yourself. I say put up, or shut up. Now go get some damn work already.

I'm in the same position as you, and cold calling is going to be inevitable. It's going to be a numbers game, tweaking the script as we go. The best approach for me is to be completely authentic and honest. I'm not a sales person, but I'm going to play one on TV.

I'm also going to find every conceivable free method available to advertise. The bootstrap game is serious!

        Best wishes!

Calling leads from the yellow pages is the coldest form of cold calling there is.

Here are some helpful tips -- in case you have not considered them before.

          1. Use Yellow Pages and Internet to get phone numbers, names, etc.
          2. Check to see if they have websites (that's if web design is your business)
          3. If they have a website, mail them a copy of the page of the website with a little note on why they may be losing money and sales and what you can do to help. If you use discretion your discretion, you will likely not send out more than 10-15 pieces per week.
          4. Call others that you cannot find a website for, in particular -- the competitor.
          5. Call that person, speak to them, or leave a message.
          6. Mail them a copy of the letter you sent to his competition, and let him know about your suggestions to his competitor, and that you can do something nice for him too.
          7. Do this weekly, tweak it as you go,
          8. Spark competition and curiosity.
          9. Combine simple, inexpensive mailings with phone calls
          10. Create a unique program and not just calling

A note about cold calling though. In between each NO and Hangup. Pick and make the next phone call as if you know that is SUPPOSE to be your next yes.
Work from a script. Make it fun, Don't lose your patience.

I did the sames things years ago in the insurance industry and it was successful, and when my calls were not yeses, it was fun and challenging.

          Happy Calling

Yeah tell us what you wish to sell.

Otherwise, there's always cold approaching on the streets. It is a good way to get clients. Whatever you are selling, go to an area where there is a hungry crowd. For example, if it is something that benefits the unemployed (ways to get money online), approach them outside a job-seeking centre.

Right - nothing like trying to sell to the destitute. :-)

If you want to make money look for prospects that have money to spend and are interested in making more.

I love sales psychology and that statement permeates a lack of confidence.

      "Trying to sell"

Get some confidence in your product and your skills. You have to know you can provide a product or service of greater value than the price of the product or service.

NOW, what are you going to do?

Just like everyone else on here, I'm very curious in knowing what type of business you are trying to market.

There are different methods for all different types of markets

Hey guys... I want to sell video services. Specifically VSLs. I've been doing them for a long time and most of my clients come from Fiverr. I'm looking for people that are online business owners who want videos created for them because they don't want to do it themselves.

I created a post (in my signature) but not many people (read: nobody) are engaging. Might have something to do with me not posting enough around here. I like the Warrior crowd because it's where I started. I also know that there are some very sharp marketers here who would love for me to create a video for them. I just want to get more of them.

Does anyone have links to the launchboards? Looking for like 5-10 of them. I can hit those people up personally and probably work with them.

Any other feedback is greatly appreciated.
