Can`t get clients - web designer&developer

Hi all,

First of all sorry for my bad English.
So my story is like this,

I started to design and develop websites.
I designed myself a website, made a facebook page and started to "spread the word".

I had found 2 clients so far in the past few months.
Both of them were old, 50+ one of them a lawyer and the other one a psychiatrist.

Now I can`t get new clients for like 2 months.
I`m did cold calls - around 200 calls a week, from the 200 calls I managed to meet with 2 people and after the meeting none of them called me back after i sent them the price offer.

I had also tried to write articles, and using the articles get more people to my website & facebook page - it seems nothing working for me.

I think the problem can be that there are so many businesses designing and developing websites in my general area the competition is really hard.

I would like to get some useful tips from people more experienced then I am.
What I`m doing wrong? how can I improve myself?

Thanks,
Peter

  • 200 calls a week? try more like 100 a day. You should trip over a least 1 lead a day depending on your script.

    • I can`t make 100 a day because I`m working - have my regular job.
So when my shift start at 3pm I`m calling businesses from 9am till 2pm.

When I call a business there are few scenarios:

      1. They busy and they can`t talk right now
(When I call them back later they not iterested)

      2. They already have a website (WIX or a regular site)

      3. They ask for my number and say they`ll call me back

      3. They ask for the price without even talk about what kind of website they want or what they want in the website.

  • No, the problem isn't that they need websites. The problem is they need/want more revenue.

A website doesn't "do" that for them and a web designer isn't likely going to be able to add anything other than a pretty multi-page business card that's published to the world alongside a frillion other businesses.

Show them how you can generate revenue for them. Quantify it.
