This is great!!! Just downloaded the report and wanted to tell you how impressed I was. Actually, I was blown away at the game changer thinking for the 9x12 industry.

Can't wait to start making $$$ using this concept.

Have you implemented this system anywhere yet or is it still in "testing" stage? It sounds good, but you might be better off hiring people who already sell (or used to sell) merchant services/merchant advances, since they'd be adding "free biz promo" as a selling point. It would be more natural.

On the other hand, advertising pros might feel rather awkward offering promos only if they get them to switch to other merchant service provider. Perhaps, you can offer both options, for those that switch and those that don't? Just an idea... :-)

We'll be out of closed beta in the first week of January. Can't wait.

Astute observation regarding the comfort level. I am totally uncomfortable working with folks in the merchant / services business cash advance industry. I'll tell you why over a cup of coffee perhaps one day!

Took a look at this earlier... skimmed through it, then reread it lol.

I'm eager to hear how you do after a full launch. I'm a bit skeptical, as that is my nature but I'm really interested in seeing how this goes.

You should take that link out of your sig and direct link to an opt in page so people can get updates from you about this.

Even if it doesn't generate exactly what you think, it's one hell of an idea.

I was totally bracing myself for the flames! However, I do appreciate the kind words. Means a great deal coming from you.

Ultimately it comes down to the demo. We're designing the demo experience with extraordinary attention to detail. If the in person demo doesn't cause people to go nuts, then we fail.

      Thanks again!

LOL... when some people make threads like this, they rightfully get flamed. Usually because it's all theory or a lead into a product launch or something.

Like I said, I am a bit skeptical because it is still technically theory, but I really respect the fact that you're giving this an honest try. I never would have thought about doing this, and if I did, I likely wouldn't even try. I like the 9x12 method and have used it successfully but this does sound pretty crazy. Not crazy in a bad way, crazy in an almost genius way that I think it could maybe work.

I think it's going to be tough but I'm really rooting for you and can't wait to hear about the long term results.

I like this too - I applaud the process you took to get here. I am not a prospect for you, but I love seeing the creative business ideas people come up with.

I have one question... does the entire idea fall apart if the restaurant only uses the merchant account for this program, and keeps their current one for in-house transactions?

I agree that you will lose some people when they realize they have to make that switch. You might be able to gain them back by letting them try this before fully committing to the switch.

I don't see this as a crazy or outlandish idea, at all. Factoring companies, merchant/cash advance service providers have tried every method to switch merchants to their services. From "free" or discounted printing, bookkeeping, payroll, insurance or phone services to offering "free" advertising, pay per clicks or websites... as long as the businesses switch to their merchant systems. :-)

As always, the challenge is technical hassles and leaving the previous providers who also have access to nice premiums and "free" services. Besides, many business have long term contracts in place or "preferred" banking services attached :-)

I hope it will work out for you!

It can be done two other ways - while still offering the same value proposition. The other ways are either a) more risky for us or b) more friction for them.

We try to target well. If you target correctly, these problems solve themselves. Examples of how we will target:

      1. Groupon restaurants. We're finding that Gmail promotions tab killed their traffic. The "luster" of Groupon remains, and these folks are often surprised to sell 9 coupons when they were expecting to sell hundreds.

      2. Square is ridiculously overpriced (2.75%). They now offer cash advances. They file public records. We can "follow them around."

      3. there's a company who's name I won't mention because they are not as commonly known as Square. But they kill it offering this "shiny nugget" with limited value to mainly new restaurants. They file public records because they loop their "shiny nugget" into some bizarre financing scheme for new restaurants. They charge 5% on merchant processing for "website maintenance, and foot traffic generation." The "free $5,000" they give you on the front end pays itself over in spades...

I could go on... We won't spray and pray...

Correction. We will pray. Heaven help us. But we will not spray, lol.

At a cost of just .21cents per card mailed each segment (200k / 3 segments) - that is just over $14000. Where does this money come from while you await the split funding?

When would the sales rep get paid for signing up the individual restaurants?

The $ would come from our bank account... Not sure if we're doing the sales rep thing yet. We're experimenting to see what may work...
