Can I call up retailers and try to sell them my imported product?

I am trying to start a small business.I am thinking of calling retailers of that product and try to sell them in a wholesale rate.

Now the product itself has many variety under it so I can try to get them see, I already have 20 samples.

My question is whether is this possible? do retailers entertain people like me ? or will it be just a waste of time?

    Retailers aren't selling anything that they didn't already buy. Half of their job is buying things to sell. Most larger chains, even have a specific department to buy new products.

    Sure, you can pitch them...how else would they buy it?
