Ideas to make money in Christmas and New Year

I was wondering about ideas to make some money in the offline world during these holidays, both Christmas and 2015 are coming and it's a great chance for us offline marketers to make some money using these holidays as an incentive to sell to the offline world.

I was thinking to sell something to offline businesses around 5$ regarding Xmas or the new year, I spent a day trying to come up with ideas for the next few days and I still can't think of anything good.. all ideas are expensive and requires work to do with the computer. The idea that would be GREAT would be something like > buy something at like 0,50/1$ and go sell it to businesses at about 5$, something regarding Xmas or new year that they would love to buy!

There has to be a way to do this.. someone must have done something like this in their life and made some money doing this during the holidays.

What you guys think?

    What do I think?

I think what have you been doing, Dave (or not doing) to find yourself in this position?
Better start asking yourself the tough questions you've been avoiding.

You'll find it to be much more productive than starting another "desperate" thread here.

    Dave,

Every year at this time, my wife tends to be the bread winner in the online sector of business. Part of it, is because I back things off a bit, to prepare for "tax" season. The other part is I tend to take sometime every year to reflect on where my aspects of business have grown, what may need improving, and targeting directions to focus on for the year coming.

The other part... well She loves to shop. better yet she loves to find deals. It absolutely astounds me every year some of the stuff she comes home with after a solid 5 - 6 hour shopping session. Last year the big winner was a total of 61 "Xbox" headsets that she found at assorted store for $5.00 each and as fast as we could get them on E-Bay for $30.00 they were gone.

This year its Xbox1 wireless controllers. Pretty stupid really, they retail for $60. but they are $20 off, when you buy 2 at a certain store they give you a $20 gift card. Basically works out to every 4 you buy you get one free. As it happens, in some parts of the country these are in short supply apparently? We are paying $35 each for them and selling them for $70. She at first bought a few... then she order 100, we just took delivery of the second hundred yesterday, and half of them are sold.

And with all of that going on, we had 300 Iphone 6 cases that she found at a discount store for $1.00 each.. Needless to say the Post office CAME TO US, to arrange a daily pick up time. They didn't like us coming into the counter and dropping our daily load off, and filling a cart. ( either did the customers that were behind me! hahaha )

The point is, the opportunity is there. Think less act more. walk into your local Walmart with your smart phone, and seek out the discount section. ( I will tell you from a few years of doing this they tend to move it basically daily within the store - don't ask me why ) And do the research right there and figure out what you can make money with.

Another biggie, that she found at Walmart this year was little Lego car and minifig packs. She bought I have no idea how many for $1.29 each. and they all have gone at over $5.00 each. (The story I was told is there was a center isle bin full of them, and she wanted all of them, and they got a jack and brought the whole bin to the checkout )

Last year her efforts produced right under 10K in profits. there is no question in my mind this year she will double that number. ( she keeps it a secret till the last item goes out, then she tells me the total )

And Justin case anyone is wondering... yes a good amount of things we get in bulk do go to charities and the like. ( we donated 100 of the legos to Toys for tots ) We strongly believe in the give to receive principle.

This is one interesting way to make some quick cash.

As old as it is to sell stuff on eBay, it is a serious way to make fast money. A lot of people neglect selling anything on eBay because it's sort of a "been there, done that" type of way to make money. Don't underestimate any old trick in the IM world.

That was a great post! I don't have enough posts to just "thank" you, so THANKS!

It just goes to show that thinking outside the box, especially when you're in a financial bind, really can pay off.

I have had luck in the past going to pawn shops. Where I do the best is the tool section. Depending on the shop, tools are always in great condition. Even if you see something that looks a little worn, it's usually easy to clean up.

I actually have a deal worked out with a local national chain hardware store that calls me when they get stacked up on "returned" power tools. I then go in and buy the lot at a better than decent discount.

This arrangement works out for both of us. They can call me last minute when they find out Corp is coming and remove a ton of dead stock with one phone call, and I get a nice amount of inventory to sell on e-bay.

Last Christmas I found Buying toys before Christmas when prices are sometimes lower, or when seasons change and then building up stock ready for the Christmas period when the demands is at its peak raised some money. Toys like Lego and Frozen / Disney toys can be quite profitable

Good to remember ebay - good example of what you can do with your "eyes open".

I have heard those little lego toys are a good thing to offer if you can find them cheap.
