Sell Hosting as Re-Seller or Affiliate, Which is Better?

I have Two (2) clients that want me to build them a website, neither of them have a Hosting account. I use Hostgator myself.
Should I sell them a recommended Hosting Package with Hostgator as a Re-seller, or as an Affiliate. Which one will provide me with best income?

Thanks for your suggestions in advance.

Whats the affiliate commission with HostGator? $50? One time?

Even if you sold hosting at $10/mo... that's $120/year. 140% increase in revenue reselling instead of being an affiliate.

In your case to be a reseller is more profitable than affiliate

(because you have only 2 clients. And you are the one in charge to find the host).

You can get up to $100- $150 I believe if you make around 3 sells in one payment period for hostgator.

It really depends if you are in for the long term or just trying to make some quick money to start up something new.

Hosting customers tend to stay for a long time so if you are confident that you can keep ranking in sales consistently then maybe slow build route is better for you.

It is very better to have hosting reseller so that the package will be with you always with the great support and flexibilities.

Pretty simple, use a hosting affiliate if you're stupid, use your own server if you aren't stupid.

Don't go with HG, but get a reseller account with a host that has a good, reliable, backup plan that you can rely on. Hell, some hosts have it setup so the backups are automated, and you can self restore without raising a single ticket.
Unless things have changed, HG used to charge $25 to restore a site from their backups, and used to take anything from 14-24hours to get it done -> not good if your client sites get hacked as it will be on your head to restore it.

I do this. Simple answer: reseller.

You'll obviously generate a higher initial sale as an affiliate, but long-term, those subscription payments (reseller) offer greater ROI. You also have to consider what ELSE you can offer alongside hosting.
