Yelp Ads for small town hotel?

I'd appreciate hearing relevant ROI/effectiveness experiences
from people who have used them.

$375 for 800 'targeted ads' per month in the Yelp network.
That's with a one year contract.

Thank you so much. I'm open to other ideas as well.

  • I've never advertised any of my own businesses before on the help platform, but I have marketed a few of my clients on Yelp's platform.

I will say that it is a good deal, but be sure that it is very targeted. My clients found it worth it but when the contract ended, they didn't want to continue with the yelp program, but only because I was marketing them through other platforms. I would highly recommend going for it for one year. Your hotel can get great results, especially if it is just a small time hotel and really targeted ads. Correct ad writing is of huge importance.

My friend who is a specialist tax strategist
get's most of his clients off Yelp.

The beauty of getting 5 star reviews on Yelp
is you can advertise their Logo and rating as an
      endorsement on other advertising media.

Reviews now make up such a large proportion
      of buying decisions now.

Plus Yelp shows up high in Google for so many local
searchers now, that it's almost like having to be on there
as you would be on Google itself.

If you do decide to go with Yelp, I would advise the smallest package
Yelp will try to sell you more more more - including very overpriced video for the business (I know a smll biz who wasted money on this) Skip the upsells IMHO

Go with regular package. Take advantage of their "make a coupon" deal = kind of a quasi groupon type deal where you set the parameters
That also makes you stand out when people search yelp itself

Don't advertise on Yelp it's a waste of money. That's pretty much what every single client I've ever had told me.

Yelp, according to a sales lady who wanted me to buy Yelp ads, would place a small banner on competitor's pages. So, when someone's looking up abc plumbing on yelp, if abc plumbing is not a paying advertiser, at the top of its page, there'll be ads for efg plumbing or xyz plumbing.

At the time (*last summer), I saw ads on my yelp page and on lots of other pages. Yesterday, I saw none.

I did not see ads on other companies' yelp pages. Did people stop buying Yelp ads? Does that say something about Yelp ads?

      I don't know.

But, they way they used to be, I was not too sure they'd work: too small, not that clearly understood as ads.

When I first saw one, I was confused by it: what's that ad for x company doing on this company's page? Is it another restaurant these people own?

Anyway, look up some Yelp pages, including yours, and see their current ads, to get a good idea of size and location on page. Ask yourself if you can say something meaningful about your company in the allotted space.

The one they showed me would be mine had room for my company name and one other very short line.
