Help starting a website to land marketing position with a brick and mortar organization.

I graduated college three years ago with a marketing degree. I am struggling to find full-time work. My interests in marketing are pretty broad. The only two areas I want to stay away from our sales and creative design.

I'm hoping to start a website as sort of a digital resume/portfolio of my abilities. I know that it would be easier if I were to narrow down the interest to a few key areas. Then, I could basically have a portfolio of work in those areas. Unfortunately, like I said, my interest are broad, and I am open to all of possible positions.

I'm not sure where to begin with my website. I know that I want to use WordPress. Beyond that, I have no idea what to shoot for.

Any advice or direction would be greatly appreciated.

As long as you think vertical market, and maintain those type of bounds you will be fine. so if you are looking at web design, and graphics, and social and seo they all are separate in what they cover but single in terms of vertical being web site design and website promotion.
