Designing a Monthly retainer for Hosting+Email+IT Support

Selling a brochure website to a SMB sounds nice and charging an average of $1k/2k USD for a non-complex site is great.

However, it is a onetime transaction. A lot of web designers then just proceed to upsell their clients hosting services for $20/$50 or $100 a month (according to my forum research).

I like the idea of residual income but I want to get a higher MRR per client, so I would appreciate input and advice on designing a service to achieve this.

I was thinking of upselling the following service for $150-$300/month per SMB:
- Web Hosting
- Basic website maintenance and updates (changes in contact info, etc)
- Helping them set up corporate/branded email accounts for every employee and provide any needed support regarding emails, like setting them up on their cellphones, etc
- Monthly report with statistics

What do you guys think?? At $150/M per client and 100 clients, you are looking at a MRR of $15,000.

Note: I’m well aware of the fact that once you have a good relationship, you can proceed to upsell true high-ticket marketing services, which I’m not ignoring.

Just not seeing it. That's $50 a month. It is literally the upsells that make the residual income. SEO and Social is where most people go after the sale. The thing with SEO, is you are literally setting a end date of your relationship with your client. UNLESS you know what you are doing.

I personally went the turn and burn route. Sure... I did hosting. Sure I did SEO. Sure I did Social. but the meat on the bone. the build itself. 100 sites year at $1000 aint no chump change. Throw in some employees and a good solid system and crank that up to 600 with a $2000 average... that's cash!

Then give them what they really want...

    Not websites
    Not hosting
    Not SEO

    They want more customers...

What other related services would you add to the package to make it worth $100/$200 monthly.

Social Media and SEO are worth way more and demand way more time as well (non-scalable)

What makes you think it isn't scalable?

Its hard to find skilled digital marketing professionals in my area/language. It is certainly possible to find social media savy/experts but nearly impossible to find SEO experts.

So while not impossible, it is really hard to scale this type of operation, mainly due to the lack of a skilled workforce.
