A Bakey Business in My Area Need My Help!

Hi everyone,
I have a friend who owns a bakery. He wants to expand his business online to target people and businesses. I need assistance in how to do a business plan as well as a website design along with paid and free advertisements.
1) First which ecommerce do I use?
2) What should the contract read in terms of percentage? Example all online maintaince, advertising, and lead generations.
3) Should I be in charge of shipping and process orders?

Has anyone gone through a similar situation? And how did it work out?
Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    You can, of course, do SEO, but local bakeries do well with Facebook.

    I are you charging a percentage? What if he's not good at getting people to buy (a lot).

    How do you track sales?

    Are you a web designer?

      Thanks for taking time to reply into my questions.
      He gave me the choice between percentage or
      a flat monthly fees. I can design a website but
      I'm thinking to outsource all the work!

        I can tell you're inexperienced in business so I'm going to suggest you go the flat fee route. I own 50% of a small phone repair chain. I handle marketing for all 12 locations. They handle the rest...It sounds like a simple method but unless you own a share of the company, chain, business...it's very hard to "trust" that you're getting your share.

        My suggestion: Treat him as a regular client. Because until you own shares...that's all he is.

    I agree....go with a flat fee

    IMHO all this talk of "leads" and being paid by the lead often does not bode well in the real world....I had a situation where the dumb, lazy office staff squandered valid leads, did not give me credit for valid leads and either were dumb or rude to potential sales....I did have a phone tracker on it but still not easy

    At least I was getting paid on fairly high end home repair/maintain service...not on baked goods! I can only imagine how complicated it would be to figure a % on that. Can you track every donut? What if an order is damaged or returned ? Way too many variables IMHO

    It is easy for an owner to offer a % , but fact is that first year/s are often not even in profit and as his own expectations are not met he may reduce what you get, and hey even a high % of nothing is nothing.

    Fixed fee, and with raises in future for results should be fair to both of you
