Marketing Ideas for Adventure Company

Hi all,

I'm looking for some advice please...

I run an adventure travel company specialising in cycling, trekking and climbing trips in the UK and beyond. We are looking to expand our business and are looking for innovative, cost-effective marketing ideas for the coming year. We already use Facebook and Google Ads but are looking for new ways to pinpoint our audience and effectively market to them.

We are also going to have a stand at various outdoor/adventure shows in the next year and are looking for ideas for my stand. I've come to the conclusion that many of the companies that exhibit at these types of shows all tend to blend into each other so I'm looking for something (sensible) that's going to do the following:

a) Increase brand awareness
b) Have the ability to capture contact details for our database
c) Have people talking about my company
d) Differentiate from our competitors

Any ideas, experiences, or advice would be much appreciated.

Many thanks.

t-shirts stuffed in water bottles may be a start - you can also ship them this way as well!

taking a super quick look at your market.. what would separate you from your competitors? advertise UK adventures. everyone I looked at was Nepal this and that, and here and there.. not a one hi-lighted biking the UK.

if me an avid cyclist ( I am actually ) was looking to go on holiday in the UK, and wanted to do a tour... would take a bit of searching I would imagine.

web design wise.. would be a super easy market to penetrate and control. a term such as "uk bike trekking tours" didn't produce any overwhelmingly spectacular hits.

The other thing I am quickly noticing is that all of the tour pages look the same.. like they were designed by the same company.

if you start to focus on what you are selling, and its not rides, and climbs, and walks.. its memories.. its once in a life time opportunities. its those single moments of "Living life" "If your not bleedin, your not ridin" type attitude. You are selling Adventure.. and anything and everything you do and present yourself as should focus on that 1st.. and the rest will come easy!

A while back, I was at a zoo. There were some people from a company that sells vacation packages that was asking people if they wanted to sign to win a free vacation for 2.

    We did.

A while later, they called us to tell us we won the vacation (everybody who filled out the form won).

We had to show up and listen to a presentation.

During the presentation, they sold, hard a $20k package of vacations. If you bought right then, they could do it for $15.000 and give you 6 awesome bonuses. And they were awesome.

After the presentation, they had one-on-ones with everyone, trying to sell... And they sold a few.

But I found out that the only marketing they do is to go to ball games, hockey games, etc. and zoos and some other large events, pass out the 'win a vacation' form, call everyone who fills out.

They don't go to trade shows...

It seems the only pre-qualifying they do is the type of activity they show up at (if you don't have a membership, you spend $100+ a trip for a family of 4, other events here have various prices but by the time you're done with tickets and a drink, you spend decent money; and by being there you're proving that you look for entertainment outside your home, outside the usual dinner and a movie or dance club).

    make some crazy videos -

"Man climbs mountain walking backwards in Ninja Turtle outfit"

"Man bikes across England blindfolded..... what happens will amaze you"

That will get you a lot of hits and cheap advertising.
