Journey to making 10k a month

This is probably going to be more of a case study than a journey. To be honest, I'm getting sick of the situation that I'm in. This is something I've kept putting off for the longest, every time I tell myself that I'm going to hit the phone I keep giving excuse why I shouldn't. So I with the help of mobile renegade I compiled a list of over 500 businesses without a website, and I will cold call through it. After I finished with that particular list I will make a new one. Everyday I will update this thread on how many leads I managed to create on that day. This should be a pretty entertaining thread. I will try to not make it seem as boring as it sounds.

What might make a better case study is to seek out JV partners at the same time and show comparison results. Any business you know who deals with potential clients, e.g. accountants, secretarial services - just check a business directory to get ideas.

There's even a sample letter in this post:

The reason why you make the excuses is because you don't know how to navigate yourself on the phone or not know what to say. If you knew this, you could easily dial 200 numbers in 4 hours.

Welcome the rejection so you can get closer to a yes. Ask the questions until they basically slam the phone on you or tell you to "get lost". Cold calling is not selling, its prospecting, finding someone whos interested. I learned very early on, you can't sell someone who's not interested. Handle their objections 3 times and if no luck move on.

You need to do this quick or you can spend 20 mins handling objections on a single call and still be no further

SooWoo, you should have joined me on the 31 days of blogging challenge... you still can by the way!

I think a blog that documents everything would probably be a better platform instead of having them delete or close your thread here.

Why are you just going after businesses without a website?

I really wanted to man. I'm aware of the challenge as I am a daily reader of your blog lol. It's just that I feel like I got a lot on my plate right now in my life that I don't have the time to keep up with a blog. Are journey threads allowed in this section btw? I just want to make sure that I'm not breaking any rules.

As for why I'm targeting just businesses without websites? I just felt that it would be easier to go after them because I feel that businesses with websites would be content with what they already have.

Nice lol, glad you've been reading.

Think about it this way though as far as businesses with or without websites. Which set of businesses are proven buyers? Which set of businesses are likely to understand the value of what you're offering?

Calling businesses that have hibu/yellowbook, dexx, or other crappy website services could be a lot more open to switching providers than someone who isn't online in 2015.

Test it out for yourself though... you have a list of 500, now build a list of 500 more that have websites and see for yourself which set of businesses perform better for you.

iAmNameLess really has a great tip here. I find that people without websites mean that you have to talk them into "why a website is important". It's a lot easier said then done. People with crap sites typically know they have crap sites, and they are more likely to understand the value of what a new upgraded website could do for them... just my experiences though.

I think its the exact opposite situation from what you perceive. In fact, its probably a great way to start a conversation!

"Yeah i did see your site. So how many calls each month is it generating? "

The answer will be a qualifying statement for you. Its either:

        1. A low number.
        2. A super high number
        3. I don't know

All 3 of which are great things to engage them into some conversation and ultimately get your own pitch in.

  • Aye bruh... Make a script and get on the phone. Are you targeting a specific niche or are you sticking to businesses that don't have websites?

Unfortunately this journey is going to have to be on hiatus for now. Something really bad just pulled up in my life and it's giving me a a lot of stress. I hope that in a couple of days I can get this train started but for now I gotta take care of some important stuff.
